right. But the worldwide reaction of muslims was anger that turned violent with the burning of embassies (for Palestinians to burn the norweigen embassy! how short-sighted! One of the world's largest donors to palestinian aid and one of the biggest critics of Isreal!). The worldwide reaction of catholics was much more subdued (I don't even think most of the world was aware that such an exhibit existed). Mainly because most people who call themselves catholic are a lot less fervent in their faith.
Ever seen how violentl those Christians can get at a protest against an abortion clinic?

http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_viol.htm

Check out the bombings and arson attempts ... over 60 in the last 10 years (actually from 1996 to a partial 2004 count, and that is a big reduction form the previous 10 years.)

People are people if you actually bother to pay attention.

That's why I fear the muslim world overall is much more sensitive and prone to more radical acts of protest than the christian world. I do not think radical religious groups are good for the world and currently I feel there are more of these groups in the muslim world than the christian world and they worry me more.
Young men in any culture tend to get pissed when told they were of the chosen, and reality doesn't back it up.

Abortion, whether you are pro or against, I think everyone will agree is a fairly serious issue.

cartoon satire or art is much less so.

I am comparing reactions towards an insulting cartoon to an insulting work of art. I think that is a more reasonable than comparing reactions to an insulting cartoon to a woman's right to choose.

if you want to see real reactions just try to create a thread on similar lines here on terb regarding Judaism and Jews ( and I mean Jews not Israel ) and see how the Site Owners and Moderators are threatened for a lawsuit ,

I have seen that just recently how many were swearing on the moderators to delete the posts and many of those threads were deleted and posters banned , I bet you couldnt even talk about Jews here on the TERB along the same lines the Muslims are being discussed far from the derogatory remarks your friends are posting here

Freedom of Speech , huh ?

Serious to whom? Not to me.

If someone wants to promote their anti-abortion beliefs I have not notion of getting violent even though I won't agree with their views.

In a democracy we should be able to discuss our differences and come to a democratic agreement without resorting to violence whether the issue be abortion or desecration of religious symbols (go try knocking over a few headstones some night, especially Jewish headstones, and let me know if they don't take desecration of religious symbols as a serious offence, maybe even tack on a hate charge or two on top of it.)

A Muslim getting angry about some perceived slight?

No way.

I don't believe it.

I'd love to watch some of these guys do a Rorschadt (ink blot) test.

It's probably the cousin of the guy who "discovered" that the cursive writting on a Coca-Cola can "looks like" it says "No Mecca, No Muhammed" when turned on its side.

The Rorschach Test is a test created by a "Christian" and mainly used throughout its history to test fellow "Christians". Presumably because "Christians" are just as likely as anyone else to have "issues".

Look at all the "Christians" that feel slighted because BK made nice to the Muslim community ... how is that any less ridiculous than a Muslim getting upset over a religious symbol on an ice cream cone?

No if you bomb an abortion clinic, it means you are a vengeful psycho.

So you think all those pro-choice groups fighting for the right to choose in the U.S. are just making a big deal over nothing?

I rather think that their cause is pretty important.

You bet I do. I despise religious extremism with a passion. One needs to look to our neighbors to the south to see the damage it can do to a country.

His actions have polarized the wold to the nth degree.

Now let's see if we can agree on another term:
<deep breath>
Can you ALSO see that religious extremism practiced by groups like Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, etc, backed by radicals, are also a negative influence to the world?
