Mayorkas Impeachment Fails in House: Live Updates - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

In a stunning defeat, the House rejected impeachment charges against the homeland security secretary, as rank-and-file lawmakers balked at what they considered a misuse of the process.

I can't wait for a bilateral border resolution to pass against trump's wishes. A lot of good GoP'ers are plenty pissed at his interference on something the country needs a hell of a lot more than trump's ego being stroked.

All those GOP reps in shaky suburban northern districts must be pissing their pants at losing their jobs this fall. I wonder if Jesus Johnson will get turfed?

Nah. They're all in rural Louisiana and Alabama and Kansas where the voters all vote GOP. It's the folks in Long Island and rich white suburban Chicago that are going to lose their seats.

I don't think so in those states the swing vote is getting larger and in the US as a whole public opinion is shifting, the maga movement is hitting a wall, trump support is waning, Biden is finally getting his message out about the state of the economy. It's going to be an interesting year that's for sure

I would not gloat too soon. This is just the beginning of the stable genius's employees in congress to help him get elected. There will be more of these idiotic abuses to come.

The GOP is coming apart at the seams. The far-right extremists have a lot of clout now, and are sort of steering things...into a brick wall. This failed impeachment vote is just a gong show. This congress is pathetic. They have a slim majority, but cannot get anything accomplished due to their infighting. They are incompetent. They can't whip votes to ensure they'll pass. And, as some of their caucus has said, they have NOTHING to show for the past 1.5 years. And this isn't even taking into account their failure to address the boarder crisis, where Democrat Senators basically gave in to the GOP for almost all of their demands. AND NOW THE GOP IS REFUSING TO VOTE FOR IT!! How are you going to sell that to those concerned citizens. Even the conservative Boarder Patrol union calls it a great bill. It's mind boggling.

The GOP should be punished for this and destroyed at the polling booth come November.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 - Senator Ted Cruz is now demanding that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell step down, citing dissatisfaction with McConnell's leadership. When asked by a reporter if he found it necessary for Mitch McConnell to step down, he said, "I think it is," very adamantly. Cruz's call is echoed by other Republican senators, including Ron Johnson and Rick Scott, who criticize McConnell's failures. First, we gave Ronna McDaniel the boot; now, Mitch? Nature is healing itself.
