La la land
If there are so many, why are the prices going up?
They are testing the market to see if there are dumb asses who are willing to pay exaggerated / inflated price when it should really be less. Get the fools before they ( fools ) realize the market is less.

Fantasy syndrome, they believe they are more worth than the market really tells them, they are worth.
How is that for a guess?

During times of economic uncertainty or hardship, fewer johns spend money on escorts.

Noticing fewer client bookings, SPs increase their rates to make up for the loss of income from those customers.

It seems like a wise approach as their income rises again, at least in the short term.

But as the economy implodes, the increased SP rate only reduces the pool of clients even more rapidly.

Eventually the SP runs out of clients willing or capable of paying the inflated rates, to sustain her livelihood, and she is forced to capitulate to the new market dynamics.

I stopped going to strip clubs in the late 1990's. There weren't that many women whom I considered to be '$7 a minute' good looking.

I saw a new class of dancers arriving, having been raised on the Care Bears. Some thought 'If you're going to buy 10 dances, you have an obligation to buy them from ten different dancers', or 'she's an eight, and she's making $250 an hour. I'm a four, so I should expect to make half of that amount'. The less popular ladies would spend most of their shift asking every guy there if they wanted a dance, every twenty minutes.

If the average price of a full service hour is $300, that doesn't mean that an 'average' woman can expect to earn that on any kind of regular basis. Blame the parents and advertising that has led a lot of them to value themselves significantly higher than the consumers do. Men pay money for what they can't get for free.

Don’t higher contractor prices increase the quantity and generally quality of the contractor pool?

Other than in certain primitive cultures dominated by religion, it is never a question of if she will, it is a question of how much it will take.

And at the highest price levels, GFE is simply the norm rather than the exception.

I think that high inflation and high cost of living in an urban area is the greatest indicator of good supply.

Toronto checks all of the boxes. And hasn’t inflation been on the move up, especially rents for young women who don’t want to live with their parents?

Small cities in North America have the poorest women, and often terrible sex work markets due to no upward mobility for the women there, and no ability to pay decent prices by the customers. It isn’t poverty that drives this business, but its ability to allow upwardly mobile women to keep going upward. When they see a good market with good economic opportunities, they participate in it.

Sometimes the difference in quality between a $1,000 handbag and a $50 dollar one is just the designer's label. People with money to burn still buy the $1,000 bag, if only because the average person can't. Inevitably, poor quality knock-offs from factories in the Far East will flood the market with discount-priced substandard quality merchandise which looks like the real thing, to the untrained eye.

But hasn’t technology allowed so many part-time freelance workers into the field that traditional economic analysis fails as it was always applied to full-time independent contractors working only in an industry?

The ability to post online for sex for sale and the economic gloom are the game changers .
This market will continue to flourish.
