Wow, the second ranked HW in the world has jumped ship. Don't know what to think of this really. The best HWs are in Pride and I would have loved to see Fedor/CC II, CC/Hunt II, CC/Shogun, Alex/CC II, etc. At the same time, we can FINALLY see how the likes of Sylvia, Arlovski and Vera would do against the premiere striker in MMA. Me thinks, however, that no one is gonna be much of a challenge for him.

The UFC should have Crocop fight them all in one night.....

Sylvia's lucky that he's tall.....because his head would get knocked the fuck out of the cage!!!

There still might be a chance that Crocop might still sign with Pride....as there doesn't seem to be an official announcement.....and only that an "informed source within the Crocop camp" had released some info.....

Could be a ploy to make Pride give Mirko a better and bigger offer....

I find it hard to believe that Crocop wouldn't stay with Pride for a re-match with Fedor....

If he won, that would have put him in the books as one of the greatest strikers in MMA history and the first man to ever legitimately beat Emelianko Fedor....

A win against Fedor would cement Crocop's legacy in MMA history....

Let's all remember that there are things that he could do in PRIDE that he won't be allowed to do in UFC. More rules regarding striking and kicking. Some PRIDE guys have had a tough time adjusting such as Wanderlei Silva who lost to Tito Ortiz. I am NOT saying that CC won't dominate, he probably will, but you have to take a guy with a grain of salt until he actually does something. Predictions are like assholes - everybody has got one. Yes, Crocop is a great PRIDE fighter but I'll wait and see how he does in UFC.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but a 205 fighting weight seems reasonable for a guy who walks around at 213

It is reasonable to think that.... but Crocop may not be able to drop any more weight.....Some guys like Randleman (Hughes as well) who were former Collegiate Wrestlers have been doing it all their lives....And dropping weight (sometimes twenty or more pounds) is not that big of an issue as it for others......
Crocop might not be able too....Or if he is able to drop to 205 he might not be able to fight effectively because of the drop in weight (even with a day to recover)....

First Anderson Silva and now Cro-cop? The UFC is on fire. They've taken mma to the common man and are reaping the rewards. I watched a Pride event the other day; quality mma, but shitty production. Pride needs more North American events and TV-deal like UFC/Spike collaboration or UFC will continue to bleed their best talent.
I have to say I prefer Pride and I have no problems with the production....The average Pride event seems better organized than the average UFC event.....And the fans are much more respectful and more understanding of the sport.....

I wouldn't care if UFC bought Pride....but it would be best if the UFC kept Pride in Japan....The rules that are allowed in Japan make Pride a unique product and bringing it to North America and imposing UFC style rules on it would definitely change the dynamic of Pride FC....

Pride in North America:

No more foot stomps...
No more kicks or knees to a opponent on the ground....
No Judokas/Jiu Jitsu fighters fighting with Gis....
No more ten minute rounds....
And no more Grand Prix (tournament format) events....

If cro-cop joins the UFC and fights Sylvia, I hope Sylivia loses, I'm sick of watching Sylvia's boring 5-round decision fights.

Cro-cop looks to be more of light heavyweight at 213lbs, but he is ripped. I wonder what Sylvia would weigh at a similar body fat %. Maybe dropping 8lbs of water and fighting light heavyweight might be a better option for cro-cop, notwithstanding the UFC's need to bolster its heavyweight division and topple Tim "the boring maniac" Sylvia.
Crocop normally fights at 225. He won't fight LHW either. He destoryed Silva when the met in the GP so he's already met that challenge and beat it. Wait till UFC officially announces the CROCOP acquisition before you start celebrating. That info does not come from either Crocop or his managment team and untill it does come from them or UFC it is really just pure speculation.

On a kind of related note...

When Crocop fought Silva he was 220 and Wanderlai was 225.....

Which most likely means that Wand is a natural Heavyweight.....

And is that Chuck and Wand fight ever going to happen?

Wanderlai has called the Iceman out twice (one on the UFC and once on Pride).....

UFC....Get it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry but I am just not on the Wanderlei Silva bandwagon. He couldn't beat Tito Ortiz one of the most overrated MMA fighters ever. What happens when Chuck beats Ortiz on the 30th? Does that mean he beat the guy who beat Silva? Yup.

It's a matter of styles and timing dude. MMA math doesn't work. Tito "beat" Wanderlei by a controversial decision six years ago. A lot has happened since then and remember that Chuck got completely owned by Rampage the same night Wanderlei destroyed Rampage and that was three years ago. Wanderlei doesn't mind being taken down which is why he will probably always have a tough time with Tito who lives off the lay and pray. Chuck always wants to keep it standing so he has such great take down defense that you need to at least be able to stand up with Chuck in order to have a chance. Problem with Chuck is, when someone actually has a chin and decent striking, he has his problems - Rampage, Couture I, Metzger (whom he beat in a crazy comeback) and even the early part of Overeem (whom he beat as well). Right now, Chuck/Wanderlei is a 50/50 and to be honest, I would pick Chuck under UFC rules and Wandy under Pride rules. Wandy loves the stomps and soccer kicks and the longer rounds. Also, I really think the best LHW is Shogun.

Wrt Randleman beating Crocop. Lucky shot. It happens and he's so strong, most people would have gotten knocked out as well. Crocop got his revenge though in the rematch where he choked Randleman within 41 seconds.

definitive yes, especially in the heavyweight division.

will never happen but i'd like to see yoshida fight some ufc guys before he gets too much older.

on a related topic, i see a diego sanchez vs. gsp fight down the line. does sanchez have a chance against the canadian hero???

The general consensus is that Pride FC's fighters are more skilled.....
Not only that (though this might be because of the difference in rules) but most Pride fighters are more entertaining to watch.....More action standing up, less inaction on the ground and the fighters don't seem to gas out as fast (some don't seem to gas out at all)....

The Heavyweight category is where there is the greatest imbalance of talents.......Fedor is a living legend and Tim Sylvia might not make it in the Top Ten in Pride....

Before I got satellite, I had watched a few UFC Events. At first they seemed cool to me... but then all I started seeing were two guys curled up on the floor for most of the round.... This looked like Pride... no not Pride fighting.. Gay Pride Television...

Once I hooked up the satellite, I started getting the Pride events... it was awesome...

UFC Looks alot better now... but Pride seems to still have an edge in Quality

GSP/Sanchez would be great BUT it is entirely unfathomable that because he won the UF reality series this year MATT SERRA gets a shot at GSP before anyone else. Ridiculous.
