A house in High Park sold for $5,000 the last time the Giants won a World Series (1954). That house in High Park is now worth north of $500,000.Looks good for the Giants tonight with this 3-1 lead. Hope I dont jinx them.
A guy with well over 2000 career hits is now a no-name... wow.The Rangers barely showed up for the series and got handled. The heart of the Rangers order batted ~.140. That doesn't win much. The no name Edgar Rentaria won the MVP.
You're absolutely right. Read post #133 from bottomsup and #135 from me to get the drift of my comment.A guy with well over 2000 career hits is now a no-name... wow.
I wish the Jays would have held onto Carpenter. After sticking with him for so long they just let him go via FA.Frisco's starting pitching was incredible, and their bullpen always seemed to get big outs when they needed them. Reminds me of the 2006 Cardinals with Chris Carpenter, Anthony Reyes and Adam Wainright, just happening to peak at the right time.
Over 162 games, the better team usually rises to the top, but in a short series, anything can happen... still, kudos to the Giants for getting the job done.
I now see what you did there. You're absolutely right. Read post #133 from bottomsup and #135 from me to get the drift of my comment.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/2010-roster.shtmli'm not a giants fan but with all do respects, they deserve to win. what impresses me most is,
they did it with no big free agent signings in the offseason or during the trade deadline and one of the smallest payrolls in baseball, woah....that's amazing! all home grown players through scouting and patience. it's a good sign, because the jays are somewhat similar
lol...i toally forgot about the "ludacris" zito contract.http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/2010-roster.shtml
There payroll is $99.7 million. Nowhere near the smallest in baseball.
They have a lot of money tied up in free agents most of whom were complete whiffs
Barry Zito (18.5 Million) - off playoff roster
Aaron Rowand (12.0 Million) - Bench
Edgar Renteria (9.0 Million) - Bench at end of regular season, turned it around in playoffs
Mark Derosa (6.0 Million) - Off Playoff Roster
Jeremy Affeldt (4.5 Million) - Decent, second lefty out of the pen.
Their system and good trades made up for it, in spite of some poor FA signings to date
Fair enough.I now see what you did there.
Your points are bang on. I heard somebody mention dynasty on the tele, but I don't know about that.http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/2010-roster.shtml

It doesn't solve stupidity. It was so stupid to send Andy Pettite on a suicide mission against the then greatest playoff pitcher in history. They should have sent A.J. Burnett to the gallows instead and save Pettite to pitch another day.I had an earlier post about this series being a fine example of money doesn't solve everything.
You'll be out of luck. Every player on the team receives a ring, and their share of playoff bonus monies.lol...i toally forgot about the "ludacris" zito contract.
i hope he dosen't get a ring.
Did some money come with the ring? When the Blue Jays won the World Series, every employee at the then Skydome received a ring .
Well one could always sell the ring after all they are a limited edition.Did some money come with the ring?
