The Rangers barely showed up for the series and got handled. The heart of the Rangers order batted ~.140. That doesn't win much. The no name Edgar Rentaria won the MVP.

Frisco's starting pitching was incredible, and their bullpen always seemed to get big outs when they needed them. Reminds me of the 2006 Cardinals with Chris Carpenter, Anthony Reyes and Adam Wainright, just happening to peak at the right time.

Over 162 games, the better team usually rises to the top, but in a short series, anything can happen... still, kudos to the Giants for getting the job done. :)

A guy with well over 2000 career hits is now a no-name... wow.

Well deserved WS MVP award for Renteria, I commented on it before after game 3 but Renteria and Uribe were both shining offensively and defensively and obviously Renteria deserved the award after his performance tonight.

I wish the Jays would have held onto Carpenter. After sticking with him for so long they just let him go via FA.

i'm not a giants fan but with all do respects, they deserve to win. what impresses me most is,
they did it with no big free agent signings in the offseason or during the trade deadline and one of the smallest payrolls in baseball, woah....that's amazing! all home grown players through scouting and patience. it's a good sign, because the jays are somewhat similar :)

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/2010-roster.shtml

There payroll is $99.7 million. Nowhere near the smallest in baseball.

They have a lot of money tied up in free agents most of whom were complete whiffs

Barry Zito (18.5 Million) - off playoff roster
Aaron Rowand (12.0 Million) - Bench
Edgar Renteria (9.0 Million) - Bench at end of regular season, turned it around in playoffs
Mark Derosa (6.0 Million) - Off Playoff Roster
Jeremy Affeldt (4.5 Million) - Decent, second lefty out of the pen.

Their system and good trades made up for it, in spite of some poor FA signings to date

I now see what you did there.
Fair enough.

Your points are bang on. I heard somebody mention dynasty on the tele, but I don't know about that.

I had an earlier post about this series being a fine example of money doesn't solve everything. Texas has a payroll of ~$50,000 and except for this series, did very well taking on the big boys.

It doesn't solve stupidity. It was so stupid to send Andy Pettite on a suicide mission against the then greatest playoff pitcher in history. They should have sent A.J. Burnett to the gallows instead and save Pettite to pitch another day.

The Jays are a better team than the Giants. Pretty much everything went right for San Fran this post season and it had to be that way for them to have a chance. I can't say they can't develop talent because they can. Their track record in developing good pitching in the last few years is amazing, but their lineup is horrible. They just happen to get hot at the right time and that's pretty much what a team has to do in the playoffs. Brian Sabean is widely considered one of the worst GM in baseball and now he has a ring. As Ron Washington would say "That's how baseball go".

You'll be out of luck. Every player on the team receives a ring, and their share of playoff bonus monies.

Even players who only appeared on the roster for as few as one game this regular season will get a ring. Players traded by the Giants, but who were on their roster at any point, will receive a ring.

This is as it should be, they were part of the process, part of the team.

When the Blue Jays won the World Series, every employee at the then Skydome received a ring (not same ring as the players, but still) as Paul Beeston considered them part of the organization, and as such, entitled to a momento of the victory.

I forgot the player's name but he played for both the Giants and the Rangers in 2010 and would be entitled to a ring regardless of who won. Who is that player?
