Only Carney can convince me.
So you are staying open-minded. That's fair.

Now, that begs the question, what policies does he need to propose to convince you? What would be the biggest 5, let's say? It's gotta take more than 1, I imagine.

But what does that say about his supporters? Not once has any supporter talked about his policy. It's always credentials.

He's been anointed before opening his mouth. And when he does open it, nothing impressive comes out. He came in last place in all his debates.

Says a lot about his supporters?
They support Trump because of the racism…but they can’t say that out loud. Hence, you get nonsensical answers when you ask Trump supporters why they like his policies.

I am curious what you will conclude.
(Are you just trying to see where he stands on this Canadian election, or are you trying to put together his larger worldview?)
Just looking for an honest conversation without the cat and mouse games.
Having said that, I still value Butler's opinions, even if we're not in total agreement.

Pierre Poilievre has the discreet charm of the Grim Reaper, it will serve him well in the upcoming election. I don't understand why he doesn't have security clearance, is he Trump lite?

Tell me if you manage that. :)
Generally in here, NO. But there are a few members that even with their biases (as well as my own biases), are still very reasonable and non judgmental unless you get stupid with them.
For myself, I put Butler in that category

As you wish.
Mind you, you are talking Canadian politics here, where he tends to be more honest.
I'd still be pretty surprised if you get him away from his cat and mouse games, though.

It's not that he's Trump light, it's that he would be muzzled if he gets clearance and views the documents.

Tom Mulcair explains it here and makes a completely valid point. If you don't know, Mulcair isn't exactly a right winger.

Interestingly enough, Trump recently said he doesn't like Poilievre and that he would rather deal with Carney. Likely because he sees Carney as the weaker of the two and would pose as less of a threat.

OTTAWA—U.S. President Donald Trump has weighed in on an imminent Canadian election, calling Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre “stupidly no friend of mine” and stating it would be “easier” to deal with a Liberal leader at the country’s helm.

In response, Poilievre said the U.S. president wasn’t wrong.

“It’s clear that President Trump wants the Liberals in power because they will keep this country weak,” he said during a news conference in Sudbury on Wednesday.

“What Canadians need, though, is a leader who’s tough and firm and stands by his convictions, a leader who will make Canada strong, self reliant and stand on its own two feet, a leader who will put Canada first.”
