OTB, as I mentioned above the Danish Monarchy is extremely popular in Denmark. They also have the advantage of not having to deal with the tabloid culture of the British Press.

I don't claim to know tons of Danes, but of those I do Danmand is the only one who feels as he does.
I would assume he'd put the same energy he feels opposing the British monarchy toward the Danish monarchy, I've just never read him say that.....

You are correct. The monarchy is popular, and the members of it have avoided
the missteps that lately have plagued the british monarchy. I actually once met
the Queen, and she is quite a gifted person, who like Elizabeth works hard at the company.

Like in the case of Liz, the fact that Margrete is a decent person, does not
at all change the fact that (in my view) the concept of a monarchy is degrading
to the populace, and goes against fundamental principles of equality, as expressed
in: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal....."

I have quite "interesting" discussions with other danes I meet about this issue.
I also do not know any danes that share my views on the monarchy.

Interestingly, earlier this month, in the south Pacific, I met some australians,
who shared my views, and believed that Australia soon would abolish the
tyranny of the monarchy.

I was living in Sydney the last time they defeated the Republic in Australia, I have to say it's the only time I was disappointed in Aussies.

I would say it really depends on which Aus residents you speak to.

Were you to converse with an old ANZAC you would get a totally different perspective than from some modern lout waiting for his next handout.

Don't let facts get in the way of your opinions.

I've got rellies in Aus and NZ. You will no doubt not be surprised to learn that they are Monarchists.

Pointless to banter back and forth on this further as neither of us will relent and you need time alone to reflect on the error of your ways.

Surprised is not the word.

In any event, I am pleased that you think some people are entitled to be
supported by taxes for a life in idle luxury. Afterall, welfare for the few dozen
members of the royal family is the first step for you in accepting a general
scheme of welfare for people who need help from society.
