GTA & Thereabouts...
It has been a number of years since I last bought some higher-end quality of shoes (Brogues, Cordovan, etc.). The pairs were expensive then and are still A'OK perfect, but I'm looking for new styles.

Where do TERBites buy their fancy-pants high-end recraftable shoes? I'm not a fan of buying online as I want to make sure they fit. I had a dude at Harry Rosen that knew his shit.

What brands are producing higher quality at the moment?

Gravitypope has decent Goodyear welted shoes (have a pair made in Portugal).
I'm looking for England or USA made... Maybe even Italian, but style-wise, that may be a stretch for me... I have some decent shoes from North Africa and Eastern Europe that I use as beaters. I'm hard on shoes and kill them. I really do believe that expensive shoes are less expensive in the long run.

Colin Cowherd from Fox Sports Radio hypes these guys, probably because they're a show sponsor.

The problem with recraftable shoes these days are that all the old craftsmen are gone and there is no one to recondition and repair them. Rather than buy the hand made $1800 - 2500 shoes I find that the $400 - 600 factory made shoes are a better alternative, they last longer and look better than the under $150 shoe. When they wear down you can use them for everyday shoes. If you maintain your footwear you will extend their usable life. Twice a year ( or more ) use conditioners to keep the leather supple, keep the leather dirt and dust free with saddle soap. For winter boots use liquid silicone often. I spray my winter boots down with warm water and wipe them down with every use in the garage before I put them away.

Tip - get a can of liquid tent silicone at Canadian Tire for your winter boots and shoes, better to buy a liter for $15 than to pay $8 for 100 ml of shoe silicone. It is the same stuff.

Those are Chinese made shoes...
That is how the French and Italian bag manufacturers are able to keep the prices under $3000 a bag. The parts are made and cut in China and shipped to Europe where they do the stitching and place the made in Italy/France tag on.

Everyone's working from home - just invest in some 'high end' crocs. You'll be styin', the womenfolk will be uber-impressed, and no one on the corporate ladder will ever hear you comin'!

I don't buy top-level shoes at all because I think it's pointless

Shoes at a higher price point are made of better materials and last longer. ( providing you keep them in good condition ) Even Sears carried some higher end shoes in the $300 - 500 range. Not many people knew about this. When shoes were put on sale the higher end brands also were put out ( unadvertised ) at discounts in the 50-60% range, sometimes even up to 75% on clearance. I use to get some higher end shoes at lower than regular shoe prices. After Christmas, January, February were some of the best times to buy discounted high end shoes. There were few bargains to be had at The Bay this year due to the pandemic.

Personally, I have a strong brand loyalty to Clark's shoes, which are made in England. They look sharp, are always comfortable and are reasonably priced. I have a couple of pairs of smart looking leather Oxfords with rubber soles as well as a couple of pairs of suede chukka/desert boots by Clark's for casual wear.

Not any longer... Apparently AE have a lot of QC issues currently. It is probably easier for a North Korean to buy them and pay less than it is here in Canada.
I’ve a few pairs of Allen Edmonds. They’ve been excellent including a pair of boots I got 6-7 yrs ago, that still feel and look great despite a fair bit of wear. The more recent ones I’ve bought seem to be very good quality too. (Tho I’ve never paid full price, have always looked for them at end of season sales).
