Well McDavid averaged 1.07 ppg last season which would have given him just shy of 88 if had managed to play the full 82. Course maybe that average would have been higher if he had been 100 percent all year and if the Oilers were better. But based on that comparison and how hard it's been for the NHL to increase scoring no matter how much they tinker, you have to think even 100 points would be incredible. And 130? Maybe if they started playing 3 on 3 for the whole 60 mins. Not that I want to give those bozos any other ideas on how to f - up the game.

I think the game is changing quickly, third year without thugs I believe with speed taking over, see if it reflects on scoring. Plus there seems to be a lot of shitty starting goaltenders now. With speed being so prevalent now it might be harder to bog down the game, we'll see.

That was like starting 2 seasons though, first off he had to adjust to the nhl game, secondly after he came back from injury, see if he holds up this year. The oilers will have to score 5+ goals in a lot of games this year to win, talbot sucks.

With Matthews starting hot, I am expecting the posts to start that the Leafs will get Mcdavid soon and have them as a combo.

Is the poster who claimed the Leafs should just buy McDavid at whatever cost (in $$$) still around? He refused to acknowledge that such a deal would be against league rules.

I say under because mid way in to the season as teams tighten up defensively especially Western Conference teams. They will check McDavid more closely by not giving him room to skate. Same would go for Matthews as other teams take notice from his 4 goal performance.

Early enough so that it may be meaningless, but as of the completed games including tonight, I noted that NHL teams were averaging 3.43 goals per game, which is much higher than normal. I resist making any conclusions as it is early.

The last 4 seasons have been remarkanly consistent all between 2.65 and 2.67.

100 point seasons in this new NHL are rarities. In fact in the past 10 years only 13 players have hit 100 points or more. The most is 120 by Sid the Kid. So if McDavid pulls off a 130 point season I'd be pretty shocked.

I don't think it's worth shocking yourself over, stay safe. He's gonna have a few 4 pointers, how many?
