Hi,

McAfee installing updates has been stuck at 0% for the last few days now.
Does anyone know how to remediate this?
I found this when I wanted to do the Windows update and restart and was not able to due to McAfee running updates
Is it possible the computer picked up malware that is holding up the McAfee update install? If so how to remove malware.
Thanks in advance.

Is this a new McAfee you downloaded. Careful there's one that's a virus. But, you can try control-alt -delete and see if you can turn it off, otherwise I would just reboot.

Have been receiving numerous (what I think are) fake emails said to be from McAfee saying my subscription has expired, computer will not be protected, etc. with a link to renew. Have not used McAfee for several years.

I just delete those emails. For any company. If I want to validate anything I just log into there site with my account log in credentials. McAfee has a log in portal. Where one can log in and validate expiry date.

Never liked McAfee.

The only time I got viruses was when using McAfee many years ago when running Windows. Switched to Norton back then, then to free Avast and had no more problems. This was many years ago though. In 2007 I switched to using free Linux which has far better security than M$. So secure you need no McAfee, Norton, Avast, or any other AV. Still use Linux as my main OS now and in all that time never had as problems or issues. Linux just runs and runs well. Oh and it's free, along with all its programs.

Over the years I have used McAfee and Norton. Norton was better. However, I now have Bitdefender. Got a 3 year subscription at the Boxing Day Sale. Find it to be the best of all the Anti-Virus Software. Even use their VPN, although there were issues in the beginning with it. But it works very well and I also do my online banking with the Wallet.
