The Calgary organization bites. Look what Jim Barker had to work with. They call him in and tell him to get the hell out by the next day? The owner Feterik had him play his crappy kid as back up ( then starter due to injury) QB. How the hell could they win with him?

BBLACK,

I agree, this is looks really bad on the Stamps. To do this now & the way it was done shows little class. The good thing is the team is going to continue to suck with that owner. I hope Dunigan knows what he is getting into.

Not that I really care one way or the other but I think he'll fail miserably. I don't believe he has any coaching experience and though he had talent as a QB, I always thought he was a bit of a prima donna, not the type who had to work hard to succeed. Those are the guys who seem to make good coaches.

Making him both the GM and the Head Coach is also a mistake. Mind you, they probably have to pay Barker for another 2 years, so I guess they couldn't fork out for a new GM as well.
Good luck to him though. Yes he is a prima-dona no doubt.

He's vast knowledge will serve him well as a head coach.

Good luck Matt!
Vast knowledge...with no actual experience. I like Matt but this might be a little more than he can chew. A good sign of a leader is knowing what you can and can't do, not boldly marching off to a sure defeat. GM and coach is probably something he can realistically do at this point.

I don't care how cold and methodical the business of football is, you don't can a guy three days before Xmas.
Barker will be real hard up after they pay him for the next two years.

Unfortunately for Calgarians, the ownership group in Calgary has taken one of the best franchises in the league and turned it into one of the worst run, of all time...and that's saying alot when you think of some of the lame owners this league has sean i.e. the Gliebermans, Harry Ornest, Sherwood Schwartz and the list goes on.

Unfortunately for Matt, it's not a good recipe for success, especially if it's your first post.

Being an x player in this league, folks -things are done that never hit the press. I wish Matt all the best-he is truly one of the nice guys--But give him a chance. Hes got his hands full with the ownership of the Stampeders. The players wont be his problem.

Just an armchair gimp now.

Poor Barker has gotten shafted twice now for things that were out of his control. He's a good coach, but too nice of a guy. Hell of a difference here in T.O. when he took over from The Don. Matthews wouldn't even look at you, Barker, he would go out of his way to say hello to even the smallest person in the organization. (kind of like Pinball)
