I think you're getting a little mixed up here miss Red. Obvously, playing with drugs in a foreign country is foolish and is bound to get you time in the slammer if you get caught. But playing with girls is entirely different and is not likely to raise many eyebrows. For instance, MP's are quite common in the DR and are advertised quite openly. At one resort hotel I stayed at in the DR there was an MP just a block away. I spent quite a few evenings enjoying a massage there. A little different concept than we are used to. MP's in the DR have bars. So you can go in, enjoy a drink while you chat with the girls and make your choice and then take your unfinished drink with you to the room.
In Cuba there are no MP's. If police catch you with a girl there the only one heading for jail is the girl. The guy won't even be questioned. Not a cool situation for the girls but they are quite used to it and it generally doesn't stop them from seeking out company.
I've also been to MP's in Mexico and Colombia. They seem to be quite legal and openly advertised.
One situation I witnessed in Colombia saw a tourist get into trouble with the local police. They were going to haul him off to jail. Not because they caught him with an SP but because she claimed he didn't pay her enough.
Obviously if you play with drugs or underage girls in these countries you will run into trouble but other than that you don't have much to worry about.
Your mistaken Rev. The information I received recently about the DR is on a web
page called dr1.com. About 2 weeks ago the government started a major crackdown
on MP's and even strip clubs. I can't remember the exact # of people arrested, men
and women, but it was in the double digits. You can check the info yourself. This is
big news in the DR, all over newspapers/TV for the past couple of weeks. It is
a new focus for the government and they vow to close down all MP's in DR. Any adult
entertainment involving massage/nudity/dancing nude.
This is new for them as they have usually
disregarded this industry and turned a blind eye.
If I remember correctly, it was in Santo Domingo.
Regardless, why even take such a risk in a foreign country. I'm actually quite
suprised that you would say someone wouldn't have "much to worry about". Ask
some of those men that just got charged in the DR two weeks ago in an MP if they
now have something to worry about. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all for massage
and find it ridiculous that anyone should have to worry about having any problem,
any where, when it comes to two consenting adults, but the price to be paid seems
a bit high, especially when your only on a short vacation. You can just as easily
find a girl to visit your room. I'm not saying to practice celibacy while on holidays,
but play the safest route you can get.
I wouldn't comment on this thread if I didn't have knowledge of these situations.
If you seen my passport you would see stays of up to 2-6 months on some of these islands. Believe me, you can run into problems.
I think advising people that they don't have much to worry about when doing something
illegal in a foreign country isn't very good advice. But your right about the drugs, it
is a totally different situation, but ganga, go figure. It is such a minor narcotic, but
taken so seriously.
I'll see if I can post the link about the DR.
