I heard he has officially asked for a trade.
Do you think it has anything to do with not being named to the Canadian Olympic team ?

If yes I have lost some respect for him. He should be professional enough to look past that.

I'm sure he's losing sleep over your loss of respect for him...
LOL but either way, I think one he was looked over initially, and when he replaced stamkos he played very little anyway. Oh well, just trade him to the west and get shit prospects and players for him so leafs have one less thing to worry about :)

Also have lost respect for him. with the millions they make, cut the ego stuff, play the game, and quit whining.
Just do your job and shut up.
With some of these athletes, something does not go the way they like they whine.
You have a contract, live up to it, to your end. Grow up and stop thinking youre the end all.
Hope he goes to a shit team to play out his career than.

No way, he's got more class in his pinkie than half the players in the league and wouldn't think this.

He played as much in the last few meaningful game as the others did. Saving him and his fresh legs for the games that count and it showed

Media reports he will only accept a trade to the Rangers. Kind of limits his options if he really wants out of TB.

I think he is being an ass. The guy has had a great career but he is 38 and small. Sure he is fast and can score but there were plenty of good players who were left off the team. The team won and didn't need him in order to totally dominate the Olympics. His pride and ego are front and centre here and he should take a lesson in humility from PK Subban.

You do know he played, with fresh legs and no bumps and bruises, in a few of the games that counted, right? What did PK contribute?

We don't know what has gone on behind the scenes in Tampa - promises, conversations between MSL and Yzerman, etc. I'm pretty sure St. Louis is more frustrated with losing - TB have missed the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years - than the Olympic snubs. He knows he doesn't have long and wants to play for a contender again before he retires. Not going to happen in TB any time soon.

PK did not get a chance to play much , but he didn't whine about it. Precious little Martin got all pissy about being underplayed and being a late pick and now the baby wants to be traded.

You must have been watching a different Olympics than I as I don't remember St. Louis whining at all about not playing in Russia. A lot of others did for him though.

2 goals in each of his games since his return from the Olympics, he sure is adding to his value if he wants a trade.

St. Louis got his gold medal. I don't think it matters to him. But I think he wants to go to a contender to win a cup, he is up there in age.

Fair enough, there aren't many more season left in him and Tampa is in a rebuild period, so 'gimme a shot guys' is the call. Who can blame him?

Please. St.Louis was a complete non-factor in Sochi. Looked badly out of place even in the limited mins he played. His presence was only a bone thrown to him to keep peace in Tampa, and his mins were only to keep him from being a distraction to the rest of the team in a tight, short and intense tournament. Well played by Team Canada brass.

PK Subban would have been more a distraction than St. Louis. St.Louis is the ultimate team guy, will do anything to win. PK only got to play only 1 game because Babcock did not want to see his hot dogging with his signature superman sweater tugging. The Leafs could use him but the Leafs are not in a position for a rent a player.

Tampa is in a "rebuild mode"?

What does that say about the Edmonton Oilers?

The Lightning are 3rd in Eastern Conference standings, 6 points behind Boston, 2 points behind Montreal for the division lead (with 2 games in hand).

Tampa is tied for 11th (in a 30 team league) in goal scoring, 9th best in goals against. I'd say the rebuild is going very well.

And they have done all that without having Stamkos in the lineup for most of the year. I wonder how the Leafs would fare if Kessel ever is out of the lineup for an extended period of time.
