Guys, I'm not trying to speak for Goodoer, but I think what he's trying to say, or at least this is what I'll say:
While what he did was a terrible thing, I'm reading comments that just aren't rational. "He should spend the rest of his life in jail" "he should be hung and quartered". People have to realize intent. He did not intend to wipe out an entire family. He did the exact same thing that literally hundreds of thousands of people do in the country every day. Yes it's that high. The difference is, his happened to be that stereotypical situation that we all fear and say "you could kill someone or wipe out an entire family". Impaired driving is the most common charge in our criminal system today. You can't solely judge someone because of the consequences of their mistake. You have to take into consideration the intent, and the commonality of that mistake. People who get caught and charged with this walk all the time, because the courts are so backed logged with more serious stuff they win on an 11B. Some don't win and lose there license for year or whatever it is, and pay through the nose for it. The reality is, these people are all making the exact same mistake, so you can't "hang and quart" someone and turned a blind eye to crazy amount of people that do this every day. Yes you can take into consideration the outcome of his particular situation, but it can't be the only factor when making a judgment. I understand the frustration and anger, but there is a much bigger picture and problem here. We live in a society where we've legalized two drugs. Alcohol and Cannabis. Then when people do stupid things because it's legal to ingest them, we blame them and put all the onus on them. There is a fundamental systemic problem here that is way bigger then Muzzo and what he did.
So while I feel horrible for the Neville-Lake family, you can't single out Muzzo and make him the poster child of drinking and driving.
