Louis CK faces new controversy over a standup routine in which he appeared to mock survivors of the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

... In audio posted online of a recent routine, he seeks to poke fun at the activism of teens who survived the mass shooting in which 17 people were killed.

“They testify in front of Congress, these kids,” he says. “What the fuck? What are you doing? You’re young. You should be crazy, you should be unhinged – not in a suit saying: ‘I’m here to tell …’ Fuck you. You’re not interesting because you went to a high school where kids got shot.”

Users who uploaded audio of the set to YouTube said was recorded on 16 December at the Governor’s comedy club on Long Island, New York.

“Why does that mean I have to listen to you?” the comedian continued. “How does that make you interesting? You didn’t get shot. You pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I’ve got to listen to you talking?”
LOL, he still hasn't lost his comedic edge. Some people are now calling him "right-wing" because of this joke haha.

He was trying out new material in a club setting. This literally might have been the only time this was ever said. I see less and less comedians doing shows and touring.....I don't blame them....we're becoming a bitchy, triggered, controlled, perpetually offended society. I always knew there was a far right wing of society, but it's become very clear that there is definitely a far left wing also. He also took on the "he/she, they/them" royalty treatment which was hilarious. Man's a comedic genius, that was filling up concert halls when most of the fuckers criticizing him were still trying to figure out the name of their blog. Fuck their sensitivity.

Glad you think it's humorous. It's a shitty comic, desperate for 'material', who has to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
Oh come on. I know he's a perv but let's not pretend he's not one of the best of his generation.

As a rule of thumb, you can never judge a standup bit by the written transcript. The delivery, physical gestures are all a crucial part of the act, and to reduce jokes to text on a page is ridiculous. Try repeating some of the greatest comedy acts you've ever heard to your friends, guarantee they fall flat because 99.9% of people don't have to ability to deliver it correctly.

Yea, this joke didn't make me laugh when reading it. Who gives a fuck, he's testing new material, not all of it will be gold.

Bravo Scarey, couldn't have said it better myself.

Not being able to pull his pud, to a picture of Loretta Swit, in front of women is starting to affect him. He pushed the envelope in the past but there was always an undercurrent of sensibility and pragmatism to his humour. I haven't seen the Parkland clip, can't comment. CK has his defenders, Bill Burr, Doug Stanhope and Sarah Silverman among that group.

Here's the clip, you be the judge.

When you listen to the clip you actually get the context of what he was talking about. Way too many trigger sensitive cherry pickers out there.

I know that my warped sense of humor has offended a few people on TERB over the years. Fortunately that will not change.

Honestly the clip sounds like standard Louis CK stuff, overall i didn't find his part about the shooting funny but overall his material in that clip was pretty hilarious. You can find controversy in any comedian performance if you really want to. These things shouldnt even be headlines.

He's one of the best comics of the past 20 years. Don't be a prude.

Listened to the tape and all I can say is that I agree with you with respect to this particular tape. The bar cannot be set any lower, as there was nothing funny about it.

Too soon? Oldy but goldy- say whatever you want about the pedophiles, but they always drive slowly through the school zone.

CK was getting a massive response from the audience in that set. Everyone recognizes that
Parkland was a tragedy (Louis, too), he's saying that just because you were a victim of circumstance
doesn't make you an expert on that thing you tragically, randomly encountered.

My basic thoughts on CK are this:
- He has not been charged with a crime, so he is allowed to make a living.
- CK is one of the greatest stand-ups of his generation, something virtually
everyone agreed with until last year.
- If what CK did is too far for you personally, cool. Do not go to his show or
support his art in any way.
- If you happen to be at a stand-up show where CK randomly drops in and you
dislike him, quietly leave the show. Do not interrupt him or others enjoying him.
Speak to whomever is in charge at the club and express that you were surprised
CK was there and do not wish to watch him due to his past. Most club owners
would be happy to cover your drink order/give you free tickets to a coming show
given those circumstances.
