But the videos you heard were carefully selected and edited extracts. So of course they framed Heard in an unattractive light.
So? This is the evidence presented. And the story that evidence tells is that she is the abuser.

Were they also not carefully selected and edited the same way in the UK trial? If not then the evidence being presented is not the same as it was in the UK trial. If they were then the judge in the UK trial chose to ignore the evidence presented.

Besides, the Defense has access to the full recordings and the full context of the recordings. If there was anything that was edited out of them that could disprove what they were arguing, the defense would have presented their own edited versions of the recordings. To cast doubt on the snippets that Depp's team played. The fact that the Defense did not, just shows that there wasn't really anything in those recordings that disputed what the snippets were conveying.

You miss the point. Unless you're watching the entire trial on cable, the excerpts of the evidence that are posted on social media are pre selected and framed by one of the parties to obtain a certain result. There have been weeks of evidence. A few minutes of "gotcha" video on either party isn't going to reflect the evidence as a whole.

Even when you have been watching the whole trial, those gotcha moments against Heard, are still pretty gotcha, even in the full context of the trial.

Suing a conglomerate vs suing his abusive ex-wife, with whom he has proof of at least two occasions of physical abuse. (Her recorded admissions). Plus the way she belittled and tried to emasculate him for calling her out on the abuse was despicable.

The UK case of Depp vs the Sun tabloid concluded after THREE weeks of witness testimony and was decided by a judge alone.

The Depp vs Heard case included SIX weeks of witness testimony and is being decided by a jury.

Significant differences IMO.

There has not been a single #METOO come forward as a result of this shitshow... not one. Which is very unusual in these types of scenarios.

To the contrary, his ex’s speak highly of him and made it perfectly clear that Depp was not an abuser. They include Winona Rider, Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis, the latter were together 14 years, had two children and have a good relationship for the past ten additional years.

That all speaks volumes IMO.

Amber Heard is obviously completely unhinged, she is a proven liar, and a proven abuser.

Johnny Depp is a very troubled complex person with serious addictions and psychological issues.

But did he lay a hand on her? I give that an emphatic NO.

This was never about money for him, it was to reinstate his good name which, as others have pointed out, he’s already accomplished.

*And don’t get me started on her claim of sexual assault/rape/violence that he rammed a liquor bottle inside her right up to her pelvic bone. She was petrified the bottle broke inside her so what did she do? She went to sleep 🙄

Does this put the stake in the heart of all women should be believed?
Believe all women is the dumbest thing ever. There is always a presumption of innocence and someone isn't guilty until proven beyond a shred of reasonable doubt.

We went from not taking women seriously and gaslighting them when they talk about sexual assault/harassment to crucifying a guy the second he is accused - with no trial, or investigation.

Amber's so crazy she walks around naked at home most of the time, according to her personal assistants' testimony, who said she didn't care to put on some clothes when she visited, verbally abused her like a slave, and one time she asked her for a raise (she was paid very poorly), and Amber went "How dare you?" And spit on her face. This is the kind of bitch people had to deal with.

No idea how Depp fell for her... He's gonna lose pretty badly again though. I saw the verdict form for the Jury it's not an easy win. Plantiffs team had to prove that she acted with malice when writing the Op-Ed. Did they?

Must be very flattering for a 55 year old man if he is dating someone like AH. He was thinking with his other head.

Yeah thats why I think both AH and JD will lose their respective claims. But I think he atleast won the court of public opinion.

That must have died in Toronto in the Gian Ghomeshi trial. If anyone was dumb enough to automatically believe one side of the equation every single time, it must have died a well-deserved death in that shit show.

He will win and you will have to eat crow.

Or I will. I guess we will see. I will be able to admit it but will you???? I doubt it.
Why? Is he going to argue with clearly established fact like some right wingnut? You just stated that you would not...

Longer the jury stays out the more likely damages will be awarded.

Didn't Heard admit on the stand that the reason she wrote the op ed piece was to destroy his power? Now if the jury believes she is lying about the abuse, and she admits she wrote the piece to damage or diminish anything that he had, that would seem to equate to malice.

Why would I eat crow?

The jury's perfectly entitled to come to whatever decision they want.

I already discussed my feelings about the trial in a post further up the thread. I haven't followed the trial. I thought the UK judge pulled Depp apart and it was a sleazeball move for him to relitigate the issues in the US. I think it's also highly abusive. But it's possible he could win with a jury in a new trial. And if he does, he does.

Jury finds both Heard and Depp liable for defamation.

Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages ( but capped at $350,000-state law) in his defamation suit.

The seven-person jury also awarded $2 million in compensatory damages to Heard, but $0 in punitive damages.

Looks like she's going to have to do porn, she's done in this business.
No one's gonna hire her for porn. She's an evil person. No one will watch her porn. She can now go to Elon and ask for $15m or find a bankruptcy lawyer (she doesn't have 15m).
