I am across from a park and really notice the cricket sound tonight.
Good old Ontario cricket sound. You know, it gets louder and then softer again. Hard to describe.
Can't find it on the internet.

For example, these sounds are not our cricket.

I was cutting trees in the back yard last week on a cloudy/misty cooler day.
Came across 2 large cicaidas hanging, literally on the undersude of leaves as branches came down.
Almost 2" long body by now, since June was hot enough this year for them to hatch.
I heard them in July's heat sessions.
It used ot be just at the end of August heat.
But this year end of August temperatures came early.

But yes, ouside of a city, near a fen area, it is cool to hear the crickets get going singing together.

In a city is cool? Yes.. in a farm land. No...a decent population of those sizes can decimate a crop.
