Canadians are soft, we get ripped off and do nothing.

Interest rates increasing - oh well
gas prices go up and down - oh well
food prices are through the roof - oh well
new immigrants invading our country and not adapting - oh well, don't want to offend anyone.
government corruption at a all time high - oh well.

No politician is going to save us, look how much money Polivere wife made during the COVID scam.

I love this country, it was easily the best and safest country many years ago.

Don't know if I can say that now.
May I suggest a beautiful quiet island with luxurious accomadations. A pool for swimming, the ocean is not recommended. A Canadian flag given to every guest and it is a vaccine and mask free zone.

Now, let me ask you a serious questions, what do you expect Canadians to do about

higher rates (world wide)
higher food prices (world wide)
new immigrant invasion (WHY, if we are such a terrible country now, WHY THE FUCK are they trying to come here)
Government Corruption ( you haven;t seen nothing yet, wait till Pee Pee takes over)

What island are you recommending? Most of them are expensive.
I never said it was a terrible country, it has gotten worst. Immigrants for a certain country are coming here, because the sleazeball leader wants votes and has obviously made a deal with them.
At my job we seem to be only hiring people from this said country.
Higher food prices are a global thing, I just returned from Portugal. The food shopping receipt would make your eyes water.
I agree with you, all my friends think PP is going to fix everything.

The thing is, these immigrants will not be eligilble to vote in the next election and a government doesn't know on what side of the fence individuals fall politically when entering the country.

I blame the food prices and inflation in general on corporate greed. The thinking is after coming out of Covid and supply chain issues, we can jack it up now so lets do it. Starts at the manufacturer and spreads through the supply chain and BOOM, the interest rates go up to try and quell the corporate greed and force folks to not spend money.

Is police brutality an abuse of power by the govt?
How would you feel if a cop abused his power to rough you up a little and slap cuffs on you? Without having met the legal threshold to do so?
Yes, absolutely it is an abuse of power.
Are you alleging that this should be considered the same as police brutality?
Do you think all abuses of power or violations of rights are exactly the same or should be treated as of the same severity?

You clearly picked this example to make a specific point or comparison.
Please do.

you actually know civilian women that carry condoms with them ?

mind sharing some phone numbers ?
LOL
Good on you for shooting your shot.

No. Not sharing numbers.

But hell, I've seen women do it literally in the bar where they've sold condoms. Just buy some to have as backup because they've targeted a guy.

Did I say that, did I imply that?
Or did I say, is it an abuse of power by government? That you left out? Aka the justice system/judicial branch.

And have I not asked many times. About cops that abuse the powers they have over the public? in even more extreme cases sometimes they do far worse, then rough people up and cuff them. When they don’t meet the legal threshold to do so.

Not sure why you’re having trouble with what it has in common. Might have also thought you are aware of the Public trust and its importance.

I have no idea what you are trying to imply.
You keep explicitly linking it to Rodney King and police brutality.
Many people would say that is exactly what you are implying.

However, since you are notoriously unclear and also get very upset when people read into you, I am asking you to state your position clearly.
(Of course, you also get upset when people ask you to clarify your statements, so I realize it is kind of a lose-lose situation here. :) )

Or did I say, is it an abuse of power by government? That you left out? Aka the justice system/judicial branch.
Yes, we all agree it is an abuse of power and a violation of charter rights?
Are you saying that all abuses of power should be viewed as the same level of severity?
Or that only a cop beating on you and the government freezing a bank account should be viewed as the same level of severity?
Are you saying that it is like a broken windows theory of policing - allowing any small violation inevitably leads to big violations?

You explicitly decided to bring up Rodney King and the G20 arrests and explicitly said the people on this thread would be furious if they were beaten by cops.
So what are you trying to say with that, since you brought it up.

And have I not asked many times. About cops that abuse the powers they have over the public? in even more extreme cases sometimes they do far worse, then rough people up and cuff them. When they don’t meet the legal threshold to do so.
No one is arguing that cops abuse their authority and that it is bad to do so.
(Well, not in this thread anyway.)

Not sure why you’re having trouble with what it has in common. Might have also thought you are aware of the Public trust and its importance.
Surveys about the trust in government in the US is kind of inapt when we are talking about Canada.
I get the point but why not use an actually relevant data set?

So, to get back to the actual question.

What do they have in common?
Be explicit.
Why did you make that specific analogy?

Ford was the only Premier who was in favor of it. All the rest especially Francois Legault were against it. Ford is a stooge and nothing more.
Legault did not want it imposed in Quebec as there was not the same extent of blockades as Ottawa. However this is what was his views with regards to Ottawa:

"I can understand that enough is enough in Ottawa. You can protest, but you can't do what they've been doing for two weeks," he said, referring to the ongoing demonstration there.
But the businesses in Ottawa had these particular points of view:

Still, Quebec exporters and manufacturers applauded the prime minister's move.

"Manufacturers were asking the federal government to intervene and we applaud any measure that will put an end to the blockades and prevent any others from forming," said Véronique Proulx, CEO of the Manufacturiers et exportateurs du Québec.

"We want order re-established at the border because these disruptions affect our companies and the Canadian economy," Proulx said in a statement. "We must restore Canada's reputation as a reliable commercial partner."
These FreeDumb Convoy protesters were screwing up Canada's reputation as a reliable business trade partner. Doug Ford was in a pickle as he could not address the situation and the Emergency Act was a last resort that worked!!

It’s right here in plain English
is it (both) an abuse of power by the government
So save a page a bandwidth, no need to be snidely verbose and wax eloquent or tax your brain. A simple yes or no will and would have sufficed.

But because you insist.

if you are struggling. Allow me to help save some bandwidth. In all three cases who gets sued and who pays the bill.

And if you don’t grasp the importance of the public trust, I don’t know what to say. Historically it leads to anarchy. Have you seen blm or G20 protest? Jan 6 or Ottawa?

Nor do I know how to respond to “Canada”. If you think it’s much better in Canada I’m not sure if you read news, or live in N.A or can look 1inch above. Or read this forum.

For what it’s worth, ask anyone to read their duty notebook. We stick to just the facts, in bullits and what we can speak to. Not what we have to surmise or think. And Less is more. Also helps when on the stand being grilled by a lawyer.

hence why so many are batting 0.00%

The argument that the feds lost trust in the government over using the emergency act falls apart when you look at the polls that showed around 2/3's of the country backed the use of the act. Everyone knew it was an extreme use but most people just wanted the anti vaxxer protest to end. The fact that they let two reviews of the legislation happen supports the argument that they knew it was extreme and wanted it checked. Even after all this, the only people who lost trust were those who back anti vaxxers, like some financial planner/health care public servant types.

The issue now is that means PeePee can't use the emergency act against any protests, should he get into office. Same with DoFo.
No more whining about Greta or Palestine protests if the charter says you have to let them happen.

In all three cases?

Emergency Act invocation, Rodney King, and... which?
The theoretical "a cop comes and beats me up"?

Is your whole point just the very banal "Government doing bad things is bad?"
Sure, but uncontroversial.
Forgive me then if I thought you were implying more.

And if you don’t grasp the importance of the public trust, I don’t know what to say. Historically it leads to anarchy. Have you seen blm or G20 protest? Jan 6 or Ottawa?
I was part of BLM protests, not the G20 one in Toronto. I have been tear gassed by the police at more than one protest, though. (In two countries, even!)
Yes, a loss of public trust in government and institutions is bad.
It's a major problem throughout "the West", taking different forms and being stoked by different people for different agendas.

You even have people on this board openly rooting for the collapse of civilization into anarchy in order to produce something better.

Nor do I know how to respond to “Canada”. If you think it’s much better in Canada I’m not sure if you read news, or live in N.A or can look 1inch above. Or read this forum.
Or you could make the effort to find a survey about public trust in government that actually looks at Canada instead of relying on the US - a different country with a different system and a different culture (in particular a culture with a much more developed political effort to undermine trust in government.)

It would be nice if these guys presented a more historical trends piece like Pew does, since that would be helpful. (Maybe they do, but I didn't find it.)

Stats can also has the CSS, but that also seems very recent.

For what it’s worth, ask anyone to read their duty notebook. We stick to just the facts, in bullits and what we can speak to.
Fuck, this would be great.

Can you start answering like that?
Just actual bullet points about what you are trying to say?
That would be incredibly helpful.

Not what we have to surmise or think. And Less is more. Also helps when on the stand being grilled by a lawyer.

Well there's the problem.
You need to stop viewing these conversations as if you are being grilled by a lawyer.

I'm glad you've confirmed that this whole "never actually state what you are implying, make sure you have plausible deniability so you can't get trapped into having committed to something" is your expressly chosen tactic.
I mentioned that it seemed like this is what you were doing a while back, but admitted there were other explanations possible.

So cool.
Now that is out in the open, we can understand why it is so hard to make sense of what you say.

But if you are committing to that, please do actually do bullet points of what you are saying with specific facts, instead of just hinting at facts and leaving people to guess which part of the facts you feel are relevant?
I get you aren't going to actually admit what interpretation of the facts you are going with or what conclusions you draw from them, but even just tightening up your language to this duty book style would be awesome.
Thanks.

There should damn well be condoms in women's washrooms.
Say she's picked some guy up and decides to take him home? Or go to his place?
Now she has condoms without having to worry if this guy remembered.
LOL Valcazar. Sorry about that, but I was being sarcastic, but maybe not overtly
