Leaf Trade Rumour...

Just gonna throw this out there for everyone to chop to shreds as I highly doubt this would come to fruition myself, but no harm in mentioning what I heard.......

3 Way Trade:

Roberto Luongo and Jay Bouwmester to Toronto for Mats Sundin and Ken Klee
then
Ed Belfour and a 1st Rounder to Tampa for Brad Richards

Oh so many things to say about this, where do I start. Love Mats, Klee's alright, but Luongo comes cheap (for now), talented, and we get a good young defensemen in Bouwmeester. Apparently Florida will win the cup ala ex Leafers Mogilny, Klee, Nieuwendyke , Roberts and Sundin. Then Tampa sigining St.Louis and Lecavalier wont be able to afford siging Richards, yet are still talented to win the cup now providing they get a goalie like Eddie, and a first rounder since they know Eddie wont be around much longer. With Mats and Eddies salaries gone, that frees up room to bring in Richards and Luongo's future salaries......

Like I said I heard it somewhere, and those were my creative thoughts....

this reminds me of the Leaf fan hallucinations of the mid to late 90's where callers used to phone Stormin Norm on the FAN 590 and say uhum ohhh I think the Leafs should trade Wendel Clark for Sergei Fedorov, or I think the Leafs should trade Nikolai Borshevsky for Peter Forsberg, that the trouble the followers of the blue and white cult dont think

He asked for $28mil for 5 yrs., they offered him $25mil for 5 yrs. and he turned it down. Now he's getting about $3.5 for 1 yr.. Lupien wants him to be a free agent so then he'll cash in in a year or two.

Those trades would be too good to be true.

Yes, but he's due next year and so resigning him whens he's due would cost in the $5-7 million/year which they wont be able to do with Lecavalier and St.Louis signed.

My favourite Stormin Normin clip was of the guy (very likley a TERB member) who said Mary Barron instead of Murray Barron....and Norm called him on it, and kept replaying the guy saying MARY BARON.....ahhhh, lifes cheap thrills.....and its expensive ones too
