Does anyone know where I can get a good laptop at a reasonable price in the Toronto area?
I've looked at the box stores and they have some good deals, but apparently with windows 7 I can't use my office 2003 suite. I loath the idea of lining Bill Gates pockets even more, but I need to run outlook as I rely on Blackberry for business and RIM only syncs with it or Thunderbird, both of which are "extra"
I don't need anything too fancy just 4G ram and an average hard drive...

Someone was selling a Dell 640m in the FS section for $200 if I'm not mistaken. Great laptop, still have mine after 5 years, great shape, hope it gives me a few more.
If not, there are quite a few on Craigslist and Kijiji no doubt.

It will actually boot up a virtual window xp environment using their virtual pc software.
Seem to vaguely recall a salesman saying that but since switching to Open Office it didn't matter to me. I'm no longer held captive to all them M$ Office apps.

Are you committed to a new laptop? Or are you looking for a refurbished laptop that gives you decent performance? If the latter, try searching for other similar threads (some have mentioned http://www.ottawalaptops.com/ and other similar refurbished laptop vendors around the Toronto area).

You don't need XP Mode to run Office 2003 on Win7.. I installed the other day ... works fine
