The quality of Late Night has gone downhill since Craig Ferguson left. Not that I have time for it, I'm most productive in the early morning, by the time Kimmel airs I'm asleep.

Gutfield averages solidly lower than Colbert, but beats Fallon and Kimmel pretty handily.

Colbert is a classic comedy genius ( and a good interviewer), but I guess the truth of his political jokes irks you...LOL

Colbert started out as a parody of a conservative commentator. However because it was so dull and witless nobody understood that this was actually satire so he had to switch to his real life persona. Some genius.
He only gets the acclaim and the awards because liberal Hollywood agrees with him. It was the same with Jon Stewart.
Late night "comedy" is more about preaching the cause to the converted. Ya, lots of laughs.
Trump dumb! Bush stupid! Hilarious stuff.

The classic example is Anthony Anderson, he started out as a line cook before his acting career took off. Barbershop was his breakthrough, he steals an ATM without having a clue how to get the money out. To say he was rotund would be an understatement.

Complaints aren't jokes. They don't make for laughter. They're meant for applause from the like minded.

Colbert used to be funny when he made fun of conservatism (and extreme liberalism) through this satire show. He should have stuck with what worked. Like many in the entertainment industry, I guess he failed to understand the secret of his own success.
