The problem being is that 'most' kids try to push the envelope, that is a huge part of being a kid. In my opinion the problem lies with the school board, (not necessarily the parents). If the school has the rule that a kilt is not to be above the knee, and a girl shows up with a shorter kilt, she should be sent home until she returns with a kilt of the correct length. The reason I say do not blame the parents, is that it is easy enough for a girl to leave the house wearing one thing, and to change at a friends house deceiving the parents.

Rules should not be made that will not/ cannot be enforced.

I don't think this is a bad idea. I mean really, young women just starting to understand their sexuality, wearing short skirts and causing all kinds of unhealthy fetishes in men.

That is infact how they 'enforced' it at my school for the first few weeks, but then you'd literally have an empty school because dozens and dozens of girls would be sent home.

That was how it was enforced when I was in high shool as well, except the kids would be back a day later because their parents were notified as to why the child was sent home from school, and the problem was appropriately addressed by the family unit.

My school notified the parents, but it was a repeat process and administration just gave up. Ah well.

They come with built-in shorts...or so I'm told.

I was out for a walk this afternoon and all I could think about was the story of KatiePie in her hiked-up kilt.

I'm glad I'm not a teacher, and that I'm not Catholic. I have enough temptation to deal with as it is.

I went to an all-girls Catholic highschool (RECENTLY!) and the girls would shorten their kilts to the extreme. Simple as the.

However, I have no doubt that the all-girls highschools would atleast not implement this policy for a long time. : )

The not-so-old days of hiking up kilts around the young, male teachers!

And when was you last confession my child...:)

Has anybody seen these young ladies in their tennis outfits or on the beach (AVERT YOUR EYES)? Oh, there are also rumours that some of these young ladies are "sexting". Young ladies will be young ladies and have been for a thousand years.

KatiePie admitted she wore kilts and she turned out ok.

We had 'fashion' class where we learned to sew.
I love a woman who can sew. So many buttons missing from my shirts.

KatiePie: Did you wear a blouse with a "nun's collar" to go along with the kilt?

Although there may have been a very small percentage of girls that "pushed" the envelope, I suspect the reason for the banning has a lot more to do with this:

or this:

http://www.hatingitmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/gw-2310-school-girl-outfit.jpg

or this:

or this:

and the general "sexualization" of the sex industry as a whole for promoting this "look" and the guys that lust after this "look". It has very little if anything to do with the schools or the school girls themselves "pushing the envelope".
Actually this ban has a lot to do with the fact that teachers were spending waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time disciplining teen girls for uniform violations rather than actually teaching. Teachers are not the "uniform police". They didn't go to teacher's college to learn how to decipher teen girls fashion choice. This ban has NOTHING to do with discouraging pedophiles or overt teen sexuality. It has everything to do with girls sitting in a classroom learning math and science instead of being sent home because of a uniform violation.

oh I bet they had a REAL hard time "disciplining" these girls for having their kilts too short.....

I mean, I certainly wouldn't mind puttin katiepie over my knee for removing her shorts...*eg*
