IMHO your whole post is irrelevant. Harris' campaign had already agreed to the same rules as the CNN Biden debate, where the mikes were only on when each candidate is speaking. Now the harris campaign wants to change the rules where the mikes are on for the full 90 minutes. Why should the trump campaign have to agree to that??
They don't have to agree to that.
In fact, they
shouldn't agree to that!
The whole reason Harris is asking for it is because she thinks it gives her an advantage.
In fact, it seems pretty obvious this is clever move to get a victory either way.
If Trump's team does it, almost everyone agrees he won't be able to control himself and most people think that him interrupting ends up with her winning the exchange either by spinning it as him being rude and "unfairly attacking the black woman" or by her smacking him down with the "I'm speaking" kind of come back.
So just about everyone believes if he falls for this and agrees to it, she will get the better of it.
BUT, by framing it all about how Trump is being handled, he's just a puppet and too much of a coward to face her without guardrails, etc... they are trying to do a few things.
1) Get Trump to overrule his handlers and advisors and make them agree to her terms.
2) Make it that he gets so mad he starts yelling shit even with the mic off and looks more deranged than usual.
3) Harris's team get to constantly call him a coward who is letting himself be handled by his team since Trump himself said he would prefer to have the microphones on but lets himself be overruled.
4) Point out that even Trump's own team doesn't trust him to control himself so how could the American people.
I agree 100% that he doesn't
have to agree to anything about this.
But that's not really why the Harris team brought it up.
They brought it up because they think it is a win/win no matter what the final decision is by ABC.
