What is the real reason Kamala wants the debate mics left on? Not because she has anything to say. She doesn't. It's because she intends to taunt Trump with lies so that he will talk over her and they can claim he is bullying a black woman. He should call her bluff by accepting the mic terms then remaining silent when it isn't his turn.
JUST IN: Kamala Harris appears to be trying to back out of the September 10 debate after her dismal CNN interview. The revelation comes just after ABC News rejected her demands, saying they would adopt the same rules as the CNN debate. In a post this morning, Harris once again demanded that the mics be unmuted at all times. “Donald Trump is surrendering to his advisors who won't allow him to debate with a live microphone. If his own team doesn't have confidence in him, the American people definitely can’t,” she said. “We are running for President of the United States. Let’s debate in a transparent way, with the microphones on the whole time.” Some reports claim Harris also wanted to be seated and have a “cheat sheet.”
It really is.
I get that they tend to be emotional and kind of fragile, but it is way more dramatic than I was expecting.
This is spun, of course, but basically correct.
The Harris team said as much.
They think Trump's handlers are making sure the mics are off to limit the damage Trump can do to himself.
They said as much and that it is too bad Trump is letting himself be handled like that.
It's clearly to try and bait him on the anticipation that he can't control himself in the debate and will fall into the trap.
Trump said he personally wanted the mics on (because he's a sucker and is easily baited).
The problem with this is that no one, including his own team, thinks he is capable of remaining silent.
He's a child who is easily taunted and baited. He's proved that again and again.
Harris may be completely wrong about who will benefit from Trump interrupting constantly, but all sides agree Trump would absolutely walk into the trap.
