But I do know that it had nothing to do with his suspension last week.
It isn't a communist thing.
Even in a capitalistic model, it makes sense for Kimmel to stay on even with lower ratings, if he drives views at 11:00PM or 12:30AM, or otherwise bolsters ABC's roster of shows, as he is a big name.
But none of that is relevant for this discussion.

The affiliates all have different ratings and they anticipate shifts in the audience. If you own or run an affiliate in a very conservative, Christian market, the Kimmel monologue stung very hard.
Perhaps Nextstar thinks that it will also put them in the Adminstration's good graces. This has been true of large U.S. businesses and any Administration.

As I mentioned, Kimmel put Disney in a bad place. I'm sure some here want to blame the Trump Administration for Disney's political miscues.

Lubbock is the home of Texas Tech University and the number 1 city for health care in Texas. In the American Health Care index, Texas ranks 32nd, they would be lower without Lubbock. Jimmy Kimmel would be popular there.
