If that was an apology, it was the most half-assed non-apology I ever heard. He didn't take responsibility for any offence he might have caused, but instead explained what he meant. Anyone who's been married knows that is a non-starter when it comes to asking for forgiveness....something which he didn't do.
And, the right continues to lie about it. He did not say anything disrespectful about Kirk. He did point out how MAGA was making it political. And he even showed how little it impacted Trump, who appearantly wanted to talk about construction projects at the White House then the death of someone he called a "dear friend."
Yep. And, as someone else pointed out (can't remember who), there is a great chance that after the business deals are approved, they'll have Kimmel back in action once again on their stations. This is cold business, and they know that Trump's FCC is as crooked as a dog's hind leg. In any other political environment, be it Bush or Obama, this would never have been an issue, because the FCC chair wouldn't be acting like a mobster talking about implied threats...
The bar is pretty low right now. Although this would be an absolute 4d chess move by disney if this was just all drummed up to ignite viewership into a dying medium

A lot has already been said about Sinclair's and Nexstar's affiliates. What I am looking at is where are these ABC affiliates located? I'm seeing a lot of small and mid-sized cities in more conservative areas.
The Kimmel equation is probably trickier than meets the eye. Disney and ABC could support Kimmel's show. Most Americans can want Kimmel back on the air. However, you just can't force someone in Little Rock, Arkansas or Lubbock, Texas to watch Kimmel.
This could be the rub for Kimmel. Could these small market affiliates and their ownership topple Kimmel? Not necessarily because of the ownership's politics, but because of losing a sub-segment of the national audience.
Take a look at the followers , then ask yourself, how much money is this bringing in???
