Go there at 10:00 on a Saturday night in August. Walk around with either a blue or red bandana on - choose one - doesn't matter. Go up and down Driftwood. Then see what happens.

In the 70s the Ontario government decided to build housing projects and one of them is at Jane and Finch.
Instead of well intentioned helping hand for poor Canadians and people to the country it turned into areas well suited for crime.
You get the same problems around most former Ontario housing projects.
While you maybe able to transverse these areas without a problem, or maybe pale compared to their American cousins, the former projects are magnets for crime. The odds are much higher in these areas then some of the other areas of the city.

It was Bad Years ago but not as much now
It got a bad name many years ago and even though it has cleaned up a bit ( not totally ) its just going to take a longer to live down its bad name. 10-15 years ago I had to do some snow removale work and found the worst area in Toronto I found was around Regent park. When I was young I lived around East Hastings / Pigeon Park in Vancouver for awhile. At the time it was officially the poorest postal code in Canada, and a very bad area. When I first moved to Toronto I lived in Parkdale, which doesn't have the reputation of Jane & Finch, but has a reputation nonetheless, especially back then. I saw some crazy shit go down in both those places, including some real serious violence (someone got shot, a lot of people got beat up, in one case the cops were doing the beating). However to be a part of the violence you generally have to be part of the "in" crowd. The fuckups mostly shoot and beat up one another rather than outsiders who mind their own business. You might get mugged, though, and it's certainly not the kind of area a woman should walk around in alone at night.
I guess Jane & Finch is probably like that. Still, compared to where I live now--none of that shit ever happens where I live now. Ever. So yeah, it's much more dangerous in those areas. It's all relative.
I'm also guessing the OP is either black or at least part of the hiphop crowd, given the name "The Game 06" and throwing an "aint" in there. Might be a different experience at Jane & Finch for a regular looking non-black non-hiphop guy who visibly doesn't fit it, but I dunno, because I've never spent any time there.

So what are you saying the descendants of slaves in the US are "badder" than the immigrant gangs. Have you been to Kingston Jamaica man, its the most violent city in the western hemisphere. While Kingston Jamaica is a true shit hole it still does not compare to the slums surrounding Caracas Venezula. In Kingston at least the locals offer you some Mota before fucking you over, in the slums of Caracas they will stab you for your running shoes.
