Ivanka Trump sued for White House promotion of clothing line
By Natalie Cornish

A Californian fashion label has filed a lawsuit against Ivanka Trump for "exploiting the power and prestige" of her father's position to sell her fashion and lifestyle line.

A class action filed by San Francisco boutique Modern Appealing Clothing (MAC), on behalf of women's clothing brands in California, claims the First Daughter has unfairly profited since Donald Trump became President last November. It claims sales "surged several hundred per cent" off the back of White House promotion and "piggy-backing promotion" at government events.

"President Donald J Trump and his individual and White House employees and agents have, since the elections, promoted defendant Ivanka Trump brand by exploiting the power and prestige of the White House", the lawsuit says. Profits reportedly rose 346 percent between January and February this year compared to the same period in 2016.

Both the President and his senior advisor, Kellyanne Conway were widely criticised for endorsing Ivanka's products on TV and social media following Nordstrom's decision to drop her line.

Conway endorsed her brand from the White House briefing room on live TV — and was later counselled by the ethics committee for doing so.

"I’m going to give a free commercial here", she told Fox & Friends. "Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online."

While President Trump tweeted his disappointment in the retailer's decision.

Once her lover/father gets the boot, Ivanka will be given the "Cersei" treatment along Broadway.

She is doing this charity work in the Whitehouse as she is not getting paid for it. Such a sweetheart. I mean the amount of hours she probably spends with absolutely no pay whatsoever, to take care of this Trumpty Dumpty dude who is a mental case that is also suffering from dementia and sporadically fires those tweets in the early hours of the morning, then goes sleepwalking. So she has to wake him up, put him to bed and start singing, "Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty", etc. etc. :)

Balderdash.

(Besides which bad analogy - look what happened to the "Great Sept" and the "High Sparrow")

What's new is that the administration has acknowledged that she is actually Whitehouse staff, who is profiting from the Whitehouse promoting her private company.

She hasn't personally done so. As for other staffers who have, it is for all intents and purposes a slap on the wrist offense.

It SHOULDN'T BE a slap on the wrist.

I recall your extreme concern over the perceptions that Clinton's husband's charity was benefiting from her being in office. This isn't different.

And note that Donald Trump is personally accountable for the Whitehouse staff, and it's his own daughter, another Whitehouse staffer, whose business is being promoted by the US government.

The difference was Clinton was selling the power of her office to influence world events, large scale commodity deals, even start conflicts.

I put this stuff in the same category as Michelle Obama promoting designers by wearing them and clearly stating who they were. She got to keep the clothes didn't she? And no doubt gained access to shows for her and her girls.

Clinton WASN'T doing that, but Ivanka is.
When she was First Lady she created the first AirBnB with the Lincoln Bedroom for Political donations.

And expanded it quite nicely with the CGI. Who's stated purpose was to bring business and gov'ts together all over the world.

Go watch Clinton Cash. It's on youtube. She did do it.

Nope. You turned out to be wrong on all that. However Ivanka really did get the Whitehouse press secretary to flog her products.
Or perhaps he did it all on his own, feeling that she is being unfairly treated.

Yes those right wing conspiracy videos are some of Putin's best work !

I thought Ivanka separated herself from the business but I could be wrong. As popular as the brand may be now - they won't be sold as grease rags when her father is impeached as a Russian stooge.

I think I would give her a pass on promoting her clothing line if from now on she reports to work wearing only panties and a bra. :encouragement:

Really hate to tell you but you know you can be a Russian stooge to your hearts content, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have violated any law or that it amounts to an impeachable offense.

Further, just because your business partner terns out to have been the next Bernard Madoff that doesn't mean that you have committed any crime.

Does it mean you are qualified to be POTUS?
