Today was so cold, that the windshield wiper fluid wouldn't spray.
I had to pull my car over 3 times and clean my windshield with a towel and some Evian water.

I fucking hate winter!!!

Yeah. I had to drive out to Etobicoke to renew my finasteride for hair loss prescription.
Otherwise, I would not go out on a day like today except to get the foreign newspapers.
Had a bit of fog up and opened the window a bit to clear it up.
Nice to have synthetic oil and transmission fluid and a new battery on a day like today with my 30 year old car.

In my trunk I have a Gatorade bottle with windshield fluid inside and a Dollarama squeegee for days like this. When I know the day is bad I have both items in the shot gun area. Two weeks ago I had 10% windshield fluid in the reservoir after 2.5 hours driving.

It was so cold, I feel so bad for the homeless. I truly hope they were able to find warmth some place.

I went out and shoveled the snow from the day before. I wore gloves and I was only there for 10-15 minutes maybe. For the first time in my adult life, I had run my hands under warm water to get the cold out.

We were out for brunch with pals.
I knew the restaurant would be chilly with patrons coming and going , even with the entry vestibule the place has

I put fuzzy fleece leggings on under my pants and wore good chunky wool socks.
And a flannel shirt. I did not feel bad wearing such a back woods fashion on a day that was -20.
The others were all saying how chilly they were at the table.

I just enjoyed a really tasty western omlette.
And the sight of the fit milfy server that brought it to the table.

This was the longest cold snap in over a decade, apparently. I don’t know if it was the coldest one but it was the longest one.

Some clown had his dog outside, so my friend went to knock on their door to ask them if they knew and sure as shit the guy completely forgot because he brought groceries inside.

I read the same. Not the kind of record I'm happy to see set. This has been brutal and you're right, I can't even imagine how homeless people can survive in a situation like this.

It's an 'old school' winter across much of Ontario, as far as I can tell. It's not nice, but the city coped pretty well (IMO).

The much delayed Crosstown LRT opened today near where I live. It's still too cold for my geeky, but old, ass to want to go and check out. (Even if it's free for today.)

I grew up in rural Canada. We would bury 3 sides of the dog hose in snow for insulation. The dog house also had foam on the bottom and hay, and a flap on the front.

You knew it was cold when the feral cat that adopted us was in the dog house with our large and furry mutt of a dog.

The cat would be sleeping with the dog these days.

Same here down in the NYC environs. 5F this morning with wind. Been sub-freezing for like two weeks it seems. Other than a day here and day there, the cold set in around Thanksgiving and has stayed that way. By contrast, my back yard was sea of blooming blue crocus and white snowdrops on the date last year, with a just awakened bee inside each flower. Now all I have is a glacier back there.
