Any reason that it should be acceptable for him to hate on gays?

If a professional athlete said that blacks were dumb, or Jews were greedy or Chinese were scheming and cruel - or any of the other mid Twentieth Century stereotypes - would he be allowed to keep saying that stuff?
It's his religion and following the bible.

And it's contrary to team policy and they followed their policy.

If his Bible said that "Blacks were not human", would he get away with publicly saying that?

Here's your problem. Religion can be any wack thing. It's not logic based or science based. It's just shit someone believes. So what do you do when "religion" runs contrary to League policy, to team policy, to the Ontario Human Rights Code and to the general belief system of the vast majority of people in the area where the team plays? And when the guy's "religion" is offensive?

If I had a "religion" where I tortured kittens, do I get to say "religion"?..... Of course I fucking don't! Neither does Bass.

If he wants to do "religion", he can go be a plumber in Shitsville, Arkansas or wherever he's from.

It's an accepted fact that the players are ambassadors of the franchise and have to behave accordingly. They can't pull their dicks out at press conferences and say how they enjoy pissing in women's faces. They have to do what's acceptable. Anti LGBTQ is no longer acceptable in Toronto. You have a problem with that, hopefully you don't share your feelings publicly.

It would seem that SOME religions require a certain amount of consideration. ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!
But that religion is based on social science. Evangelical Christianity isn't.

And social science is followed in Ontario. EC not so much.

ROTFLMFAO!!!! It's a belief system like any other, guaranteed by the Charter to be expressed freely. I have no use for Christianity in any form, but the freedom to practice, whatever you believe, is the cornerstone of a free society.

Section 1 of the Charter, Dersh 2.0. "Reasonable limits in a free and democratic society".

Plus, the Blue Jays aren't government and so they aren't bound by the Charter anyway. Bass has an employment contract, which has a clause that he doesn't embarrass the team. He embarrassed the team and had to eat shit to get his ass out of trouble.

You must really hate gays, JC. There's no fake-ass "grooming" argument here. Bass did straight-up bigotted hate speech aimed at other citizens. There's no defence to that in Canada.

IMHO, Anthony Bass is a fringe pitcher. Therefore, Bass needed to apologize, to save his career, with the Blue Jays. It would be interesting to see, if a star Blue Jay player like Bo Bichette, shared Anthony Bass's views. I doubt the Jays would force Bo Bichette, to apologize, to the media!! I also doubt the crowd, would have booed Bichette!!
They would. It would be a far bigger deal and far more awkward. But they would do it.

I think that demanding that Christians accept what is specifically forbidden by their beliefs goes way past the "reasonable limits". BTW, quit inventing shit, it's getting tiresome. Bass retweeted a straight forward religious opinion. His only mistake was apologizing for it.

Maybe he could have said..." Don`t forget, June is groomer awareness month", not as harsh.
