The only part of this article I disagree with is the sentence I enlarged. Oct.7 was NOT uncalculated. It was totally calculated and it had the desired result. Hamas knew that the Israel reprisals would take an enormous toll on the Gazans and they wanted them to suffer to garner world sympathy. Hamas was using Gazans as human shields so that they could be unwilling martyrs. So when that Hamas government employee said the attacks were uncalculated, he was wrong, but only partially.
What Hamas and Iran did not calculate is that Western democracies (and many Arab nations in the region) hate the terrorists of Hamas so much is that they are willing to let Israel finish the job regardless of the human toll. They know that Hamas is the cause of all of this and wants them eradicated like the cockroaches they are. No Hamas=peace. There has been public bluster against Israel, but behind closed doors the obvious message is stomp them out.
