It's more than a rumour, less than a confirmed fact. It was a claim made by one US inteligence agent based on who knows what information. It was denied by Al Qaeda, and has never been independently confirmed.

I also thought why not take him in if it was possible to not kill him. The likely reaction of a Bin Laden capture is a flurry of westerners in the Middle East being taken hostage and likely killed if Bin Laden was not released. Basically they had to kill the guy.

Again this is rather different than a police raid to arrest the local burglar.

I also basically believe the government’s account of Bin Laden’s death, although there would be more details involved that we may never know.

The Navy Seals are likely especially dedicated, honorable and patriotic Americans to go through the training they endure. They would be loyal to the office of the president, but doubt they have any special dedication to Obama specifically. The idea that dozens of these guys, now known by many hundreds of their buddies, could be used in some major media circus to boost Obama’s standing in the polls, and then relied on to never reveal the truth is a really big stretch. Not to mention all the CIA guys involved leading up to the raid, doctors on the ship and other staff.


Also curious that no police showed up at the compound.
Has Bin Laden’s shot up wife shown up anywhere?
40 minutes does seem like a long time to be in a firefight in that small compound.

I don't think the CIA lets prisoners sleep. Sleep deprivation is one of their main tools.

The only plausible conspiracy theory here is that he wasn't actually dead when they carted him out, and they are interrogating him somewhere.
