It is tougher to appreciate a sport if you didn't really grow up with it. I get into similar arguments with people and baseball. People who didn't grow up with it say how boring it is and so on. Remember the dumbass comments Bryant Gumbel made about how the Winter Games are a joke because they don't have the best athletes becase there are not enough black people participating. I'd like to see his ass on a pair of skates and a stick and tell me hockey players aren't good athletes. He never did thus he doesn't know. I used to be guilty of similar comments against cricket and table tennis and they have millions and millons of fans (though mainly in Asia)

I dont need to play hockey because I have been through grueling football matches and I used to sprint 100, 200 and 400 in the space of a couple of hours at top level back in the Caribbean. I also used to play alot of tennis from sun up to sun down in 30 degree heat in the Caribbean.

I have also batted in competitve cricket nonstop which takes ALOT of mental toughness and concentration. Fit in mind and body.

Don one other thing, Pele was a master sportsman like most black ATHLETES are. He could play almost any sport. He was a footballer and he could play basketball and was sprinter too. He could run the 100 yards in 10secs way back in the 70s

There is alot about Edson Arantes do Nascimento you obviously do not know. He was an ATHLETE ahead of his time. They stopped a war in Africa to get a glimpse of this man play just as they did to see Bob marley sing in concert.

I dont play rubbish sports. I play sports that condition me for top class fitness. I would be better off cycling than playing hockey. We athletes like to run. When we slow down we want to be still running or jogging and not coasting on some object that does the work for us then

hello????? Where did I mention anything about canadians vs Africans? I said Africans vs most hockey players in the burning hot sun to the tune of 30degress plus for hours and hours. Are all hockey players Canadian? Me thinks you are taking this personally.

PS: I am not African. I used them as an example because:
1) they are tough
2) they are fit as hell
3) ts football that they love and mostly play

PPS: only a handful of Africans place ice hockey and they have to be of African descent rather than be African. However, MANY Canadians play football. There is a fundamental difference. Please list the African born players who even care about ice hockey to want to play it?

Russians don't like hockey? I thought they did. You know that whole '72 Canada/USSR Summit Series thing.

Jamaican bobsleigh team in 1988 sponsored and coached by an American because he thought Jamaicans "could run fast" so they'd be good for bobsleigh but couldn't handle the technical parts? How is that tough? That's just stupid. And it really was stupid they almost killed themselves.

As for going to "little jamaica" where is that and why would I want to go there? Is it hot there? Is that in Canada, USA, or Jamaica? I hear Jamaica is good for beaches and rum. Maybe I will go there and take up soccer with all the other pussies. Not.

I'll stick with a man's game like football, hockey, basketball, or rugby.
