Ok, so why is calling it the UK variant not offensive? No one blames the Brits for it. I don't buy it
Because it is a variant of the virus. If it was the originator, it would be different.

And only maybe. A country seen as “white” may get different treatment on the world virus scale.

We won’t know until a virus comes from a predominantly white country.

Yes, a chinese person eating a bat, fried in gutter oil would be insulted and disgusted to hear Covid-19 referred to as Chyna virus.

The scientific community has always been charged with naming diseases, infective organisms, drugs, species, organic and inorganic compounds, elements etc. in a precise, concise and that reflects and differentiates origins and symptoms, not the treasonous, lying orange man. They call it covid-19.

It may not be racist but it is most definitely inaccurate and solely for the purpose of deflecting attention away from trump's non-response which gave the US the worst numbers in the world.

Saying the trump virus is as accurate as saying the China virus.

It's pretty much the equivalent of the "N" word which would not be allowed under any circumstance. Seriously. That is offensive.

Words are more than their dictionary definitions. How they are used also carries meaning. Language is always changing and sometimes “inoffensive” words can become so, simply by how they are commonly used.

I absolutely 100% agree.

Simple everyday words can be offensive depending on application, tone of voice, gestures etc.

It also depends on environment where "offensive" words are applied. So called N word has a completely different meaning when used among people of dark skin.

I've heard Asians rant of other Asians using all kind supposedly offensive language and not a soul interfered.

We as society are very inconsistent and hypocritical.

As far as Chyna virus is concerned, this is a second Sars that came from China in the past 20 years.

You sound like an expert there. Can we refer all questions on race politics, racism and semantics to you in the future?

Should be called the Trump Virus. He had the most famous case.
The vaccines should be called The Trump Vaccine thanks to operation warp speed but he's not a grand stander like that. He didn't seem impressed with their virus and got over it quickly. He even went out to thank all the people that showed up at the hospital in support to say thank you-which was a classy act of appreciation I thought.

Spanish Flu (not from Spain)
West Nile
Zeka
Ebola
South African Variant of Covid
UK Variant of Covid

All of the above were named after where the virus was first discovered. Im fine with calling it Covid-19, however, why is it not racist to say the UK Variant? Or the South Africa Variant about the exact same disease?
I thought China had a bunch of viruses like the avian, the swine etc. Seems to be a breeding ground, theories where that the population lived in very close contact with animals. But nowadays you fart and they call it racist.

People can whine about China to their hearts content
China was way more effective at taking care of this minor flu than most of the world was

4,820 dead out of a population over 1 billion
vs
19, 533 dead here out of a population under 40 million

Open your eyes

Not only is the covid situation nipped in the bud but they are actively recruiting tourists to return to places like Wuhan that have been crippled due to outright racism and foolishness

Fuck people whine about China but Italy did far more to spread the outbreak than any Asian country

Take a look at Asia in general
China, Korea, Japan, Australia, Thailand etc etc all did WAY better than say Canada did

The worst country in all of Asia (Philippines) has a shadow of the number of cases we do

So yeah since NONE of the Asian countries have any issues I do trust their figures to be pretty accurate
(far moreso than I trust the ROC)

It's racist because Trump said it...had Obama said it...won't be here discussing it...
Yea, that's right, if Obama had said everything Trump did and behaved like he did he never would have been criticized.
Very astute observation.

Like the way that you intended it to be taken. Would you spell out the "N" word for us? They are comparably offensive racist terms. If you can spell out the totally derogatory "C" word, you can do so for the "N" word.
