Today they hit 1,000 new daily infections a level not seen since March. I don't know what percentage of those new infections comprise fully vaccinated people or whether this is a temporary blip but its worth keeping an eye on.

On the other end we will hit 80% hopefully by the end of the month. So whether that creates real herd immunity will also be a test. If it does and our positivity rate continues to stay below 1 we will be able to open up and show the world they do work.

Your point is correct. I suspect that at 80% with the delta it might not be enough to drive the R0 to under 1. Eventually as the vaccinated get sick it will go below one and much sooner than a non vaccinated population but still.
1:Considering almost all the hospitalization and deaths will be from those who refuse to do their part, well these are the same cunts who have been going on about a 99+ survival rate so I don't care. Pity for those who did their duty or can't though.
2: Before they consider another lockdown they should force people to get double vaccinated. This idea that the government is willing to bankrupt businesses and shut down activity but they are not willing to force people to take a safe, effective and free vaccine is just beyond nuts and stupid.
