The folks that say they know about the long-term trends have stated that we are looking at a 10-year period of more numerous and stronger hurricanes.

One has to wonder if its the effects of global warming. The nineties were the warmest decade on record. The warmer the oceans, the stronger the storms.

We may have to put up with some minor misery at different times of the year, but at least hurricanes are one thing that doesn't seem to be a real threat to our part of the world. You got to feel sorry for those in the Caribbean though.

it must be the terrorists!!!

these hurricanes are the result of terrorist efforts to attack the united states... we must stop at nothing to stop these terrorist killers! next thing will be earthquakes in California... we must fight the terrorists and save our country!

Remember when they said that HIV/AIDS was God's punishment for gays!
Those idiots always put up outragious reasons to further their agendas.

Funny thing is everytime when something happens and they say that's God's punishment, they are in fact insulting people's intelligence and acting blasphemous to God's name.

Who can say with certainty this is God's punishment? Who do they think they are?

There is nothing more evil than people who are bible/koran thrumping and committing murderous rampages, both by words and deeds. Worst, they justify the means in the name of God/Allah or for the good of the people/country.

If there's God, God will liquidate all "imposters/hypocrates/devil masquarading as true believers of God".

There is only a razor thin difference between Dubya and the Christian (Catholics & Protestants) fundamentalists in the western world and those Islamists, especially al-Qaidas murderers.

God may try to punish the GOP & Florida because the GOP administration under Jeb sided his brother and the Cubans "hijacked" the election. ;) Remember Elian Gonzalez, anyone?

Other than that, it's just another aweful Hurricane season!

I think the key words are "warmest decade ON RECORD"...I think the records only go back to the early 1800's or late 1700's...So they're trying to predict weather paterns on a world thats been here over 4,000,000,000 yrs with about 200-250 yrs of data...kinda hard...besides, if i recall the big hulabaloo in the early 70's was global COOLING...It's always something...I wish these people would realize we can't change the climate...no matter what we may do...Maybe in the shrt term, we might have an effect...but not on a permanent basis...

I'm in Fort Lauderdale right now .. Lost power twice and I hate George Bush. There is no reason to punish me .. sigh!

Anyone who is very religious is weak minded or brainwashed. You should live your life the way you want to.
Why do you people (religious freaks) need to have some book or religion tell you how to live. I hate all religions and think they are all usless. There would be half as many wars if religion was not around, just look at the middle east. One of the most religious areas of the globe and most terrorists and wars are started there.

Actually BiggieE, they can go alot farther than 200 or so years back. They are able to do core samples into the ice within the Arctic and Antarctic to check the weather patterns over the last 5-10 thousand years. There has been nothing like the last 40 years. Our glaciers are disappearing. Huge chunks (some the size of Manhattan Island) are dropping into the oceans at both poles.

Come down from north of Toronto when there is a temperature inversion and you can see that thick mustard yellow haze over our fair City. To think that we can't change the climate is to say the least, a little ridiculous.

All I am saying is even with 5,000 years of data, that may or may not be accuurate, it's going to be difficult to predict patterns on a planet thats been spinning thrugh the heavens for over 4 billion years. The haze over the city is a localized effect from all those cars jammed into one place. I bet if you drive a few miles out of the GTA it lessens considerably...does'nt it? And if we are experienceing Global warming, then explain this "summer"...and last winter...

This year is an example of the way things are going with overuse of fossil fuels and the release of greenhouse gasses leading to global warming and in turn to more volatile and powerful weather events. Some sort of punshment from God? I personally doubt it, but an example of cause and effect - probably.

LOL! It's a left wing conspiracy. Theresa Heinz's fortune has gone to create a hurricane generator and they've set it loose to avenge Al Gore.
Hell me thinks the set loose Al Gore and his windbag persona and made them

I am not religious at all, but this statement is patently false. Yes religion has often been used as an excuse to go to war, but is never the cause of it. If religion did not exist, then another excuse would be found.

The Middle East situation has to do with two groups of people who feel they have an historical right to the same piece of ground. (In this case, they are both right, which makes the situation virtually impossible to solve.)

On a similar note, I don't believe that people select there beliefs based on the religion they follow, but the other way around. For example, someone who hates gays will select a sect that is in line with their views, or simply interpret passages from the Bible/Koran etc. to support this view.
