Of course Linux and OS X using superior OS's and file systems have NONE of these issues that trouble MS.....
the ONLY reason for that is hackers don't waste time on OS's that have so little market share. combined less than 10% of the worldwide market use those OS
I also believe most hackers attacking MS are Linux and Mac users lol ;)

Come on......don't confuse hate with humor.
Humor seems in short supply amongst the Apple fanbois.....
I do find u funny.... very funny .... i am surprised u took offence to that so easily .... i guess there was truth in it to get your feelings hurt.

Based on other articles that I have read about the iPad, it appears to be ideal for situations where most of your activities center around media consumption rather than media creation.
I think this is close - typing this on my iPad but I wouldn't want to wright a white paper on it....

U do understand the bragging rights of hacker breaking into a BSD OSX on Linux web server in the wild or finding exploits in the wild..... almost any script kiddie can attack and access a windows server on the web ( main reason it takes more work and some knowledge to harden a windows box from exploitation).
I was actually surprised to see a Windows 2003 provider as the second most reliable.

Battery issues, WiFi issues, 1st gen anything is never a great purchase.
Why Apple didn't put USB or Firewire (they're thing) is beyond me.
Like the 1st gen iPods, this is just a Beta phase.

I like the novelty of it, but will wait awhile till they work out their kinks and add more things to it.
I have had no wifi issues, the battery is fantastic (used in a meeting non-stop from 8a to 6:30p connected to the Corp network the entire time, had 40% battery left)

As for USB/FW, there is a camera connect that has a USB but the strategy seems to tie the iPad to iTunes. I think this is a limitation, wireless synch and printing would help.

You can always wait for a later product, they are always better...

Well I've been playing around with the iPad and my thought is that it is not a laptop/netbook replacement but it does have a place as a nice indoor gadget for quick browsing and reading articles and watching movies. But without a physical keyboard, I got frustrated trying to type quickly (most of my laptop usage is typing) and it blows when trying to use it outdoors in sunlight (much like a glossy display - hence I love my matte display on my netbook). Also I tend to use the iPad with it lying flat and I hate looking down on it vs how a netbook I can easily control the angle of this display.

In summary:
iPad - cool, useful gadget to have laying around indoors.

Don pretty much summed it up.

Not practical, but more fun.

I've not used mine outdoors much yet during the day.... I'll have to give that a try.... there is a cool app that uses the GPS and compass in the iPad to display the stars/planets in the sky has you hold it up (as you raise, lower/plan it the view on the display changes to what you're looking at in real time) ...... very cool with the kids, took them out to the end of my mothers dock on a clear night and we looked at all the stars ......

Came across this article today.
http://www.aneesoft.com/tutorials/ipad/top-10-worst-things-about-ipad.html

I'll wait a few more years till they expand the harddrive capacity, add a few more things to it (USB, camera) and the biggest one of all, MULTITASKING.

In fairness here's an article about some things you can do.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/196415/10_great_ways_to_get_more_from_your_ipad.html
(love the comments though lol)
After multiple weeks of hands on I'd say that many of those top 10 worst things are fair:

No camera - it does seem like a simple omission, have no idea why, not that I'd ever use it but I'm sure kids would. Unlike an iPhone (or soon an iPod Touch) the iPad is a little too heavy and large to pan around as a photo or movie camera (more on the weight below)

No flash - I've only found this to be an issue on a very few sites, I think the prevalence of both iPhone/Touch/Pads will force web developers to move away from flash - but it is an annoyance

No Multitasking - this has almost never bothered me on my iPhone but is more of an issue on the iPad - the larger format lends itself to working on multiple things at once - for me this is the only really hard-hitting criticism on this list - this will go away this fall with 4.0 of the iPhone OS

Touch Keyboard - this isn't an issue, the display keyboard is easy to use and you can use a blue tooth keyboard if you can't make it work.

No USB - again, maybe because of the way I'm using my iPad but I've not wanted to load anything on the iPad that isn't on my Mac or PC - I did get the camera adapter which has a USB connection (with all he capabilities and limitations in your second article) but all I've used that for is downloading images from my Nikon D3s (which works really well even with NEF RAW images)

Weighty - I think this is a trade off, the iPad has crazy battery life and I'm happy to carry around 1.6 lbs to get 10 PLUS hours of consistent work out of it for that weight - for me it actually makes the device easier to hold, I've done a bit of comparison with the Kindle that I bought my SO, and I actually like to hold the iPad more....

No GPS chip in Wi-Fi modle - I have the 3G so this isn't an issue, this is one reason I bought the 3G as I have a Verizon Mifi card I use for on the road 3G access (and that works great)

No HD Video output - this is stupid, why would anyone expect an iPad to output HD video - or maybe that's just my view.

ATT Deal - This is fair, I think Apple should have taken the opportunity to reach out to the other firms and let it be a bit more of a free for all... that said $30 for unlimited data is a good deal and the ability to turn it on/off upgrade or downgrade at will without a contract is awsome.

Closed App Ecosystem - I don't share the evil empire view of Apple this concern requires, yes I do think they are a bit OCD about the apps they allow on their devices but no one can dispute the size of the ecosystem in the Apple Apps store - a massive number of free apps that have been quality controlled and very cheap apps that are cheap because the audience is so large. Across all the iXxxx devices I think this is what Apple got right - now they need to be more transparent about how/when the approve apps. It's a bit like Singapore in SEA - but that metaphor might be a bit of a stretch.

A note to iPad haters, Apple haters (and insecure nerds - yes I'm talking to you Pekkkr) - I should have my SO write a he said / she said comment on the iPad, she thinks it's way too expensive and doesn't see the need for a color screen to read books and text... she's also suspect of anything that looks that good and is that popular....

LOL

A note to smug fanboi bottie. I'm not an Apple hater. Remember Libs are luvers, cons are the haters, always have been, it's a cottage industry with them.

Just pointing out from a practical POV how a netbook runs circles around the iPad, plus costs half as much! A point lost on Apple cultists and advertising marketeers such as you.
You have much to learn grasshopper.....

I know iPad is not a netbook.
It's more like a very limited netbook that costs double....
