*BIG SIGH* That's exactly why I'm saying we ALL, landlords included, need to be pushing for rent, utility and mortgage freezes, it benefits EVERYONE.

I want to thank Amber for her honesty, bravo. Also, I want to say another fuck you to CMJ. So beyond irresponsible to be open still right now. Do you want Canada to be like Italy? Get your shit together now!

You can't force them at this point. There are still many escort venues open across Canada! It's up to clients to stay away and keep our pants zipped at home!

You nailed it. Clients need to zip up their pants, heck, practice social distancing for goodness sake! Basically, the law of demand and supply will prevail here, it always does. When the demand dry up, the supply will shut down.

Like somebody said, social distancing is purely voluntary, thousands of SPs, and perhaps MPs elsewhere are not partaking, why must CMJ, especially since some dickheads choose to continue going or are incapable of zipping up their pants?

If you see 1 client a day and only get $200 each visit that’s $6k in your pocket net per month. How can an escort not have any savings??? Some girls I know make $2k per day
The ladies will probably jump in and tell you they have a lot of expenses like rent, advertising, beauty, gym etc and while I don't deny they have expenses (just like the rest of us working plebs!), I do agree with you they should at least have some savings for rainy days like right now.

I recently chatted with a former SP who used to work in Niagara Falls and I can confirm what you wrote: She told me she used to rake in $1K a night easily because it is a tourist town. Unfortunately, she went through all of that just as quickly, indulging in activities that don't exactly come cheap. Long story short, she is now attending both AA and NA sessions and is trying to turn her life around. I am not here to judge anyone, we all have our own demons, and I am not here to preach to a choir but we have to be responsible for our own actions. I am not jealous if the SPs make more $ than I do, good for them, it's not an easy job, but I hope they put that to good use, that's all I am saying...

Yes, many sex workers are not stable financially, this isn't a new fact. Who are these girls? Me. You're talking about me.
Care to explain how I'm not safe even during regular times?

No landlords are not more at risk. I'm not even sure why you're arguing about trying to push for freezes that will help you out also? Do your part to help your tenants however you can, end of story.
Amber...he's not listening to you. It was very clear what you wrote. HE DOESN'T CARE. It's fucking depressing.

Hold your head up. There are still some of us that aren't completely selfish.

Can you explain how it happened that you do not have $500 cash (or on checking account) just in case? How a person can spend money on anything other than food/shelter without having at least $500 to his name? I am sorry, but if it is true, you are a prime example why landlords do not want to postpone rent: it would be impossible to collect 3-4 month worth of a rent from a tenant that cannot stash even $500 for a rainy day.

OK, so, let's say bank allows me (a landlord) to postpone 4 mortgage payments ($8,000 total) and I allow my tenant to postpone 4 month rent ($8,000 total). In 4 month my payments to bank will resume and I will eventually pay everything back. In 4 month Amber (my tenant) will own me $8000 and, as she just said, she lives "paycheck to paycheck", i.e., does not even have $500 in her bank account, no assets to sell (if she had any, she does not need help with rent, right?). What prevents her from simply leaving and without paying. It is not like I can garnish her "wages", and, as we agreed, she has no assets. I am sorry, but freezing mortgage payments are not equivalent to postponing rent: the "default" risk is not the same.

C'mon guys, we are only 1 week into lock-down. A person does not need more than $500 per month for food and basic hygiene and it will be virtually impossible to evict any non-paying tenant during the state of emergency. Do anyone here believe that there is a single non drug-addicted SP that does not have at least $1000 in cash and/or enough assets (gold, car, etc) that they can pawn to raise money for food for at least a few month?

The very few loud voices spewing ignorant venom in this thread is the very reason the TERB community and TERB users are perceived as they are.

Absolute zero sense of decency, consideration, or compassion for the more vulnerable in our society.

No white-knighting here - you guys are just low life POS scum.

Trouble is rent is eventually going to be paid. I feel for the full time students and single moms. Student loan payments deferred but seen no mention of tuition. I'm self employed, so no EI and am out of work as of Friday so Understand the stress of not knowing when my next paycheck will be coming.

Everyone has to do their part to slow the rate of infection down including businesses
