I am unsure if you are challenging the validity of my statement, or whether you meant that the 30-70% could potentially not be realized. If this is anywhere near accurate the mortality rate for COVID-19 is 1% which would mean approx 100k to 215k Canadians will not survive. I feel for the people we will lose but humanity will survive and the sun will rise everyday.

"Health Minister Patty Hajdu said that because Canada's response to COVID-19 has been based on science and evidence from the beginning, the WHO's pandemic announcement won't change the way the federal government approaches the outbreak.
Asked what percentage of the population could be affected by the virus, Hajdu pointed to the potential rates of infection for all populations, which experts have pegged at between 30 to 70 per cent. She said that most people who get the virus will experience only mild symptoms, similar to a cold or flu, and that it's the elderly or people with underlying health conditions who face the greatest risk."
Also, mortality rates are different for different demographics. Right now it sits at 15% for those above 50.
