I've never been a strong proponent of it, but some try. Again you're trying to key hole something. It's fine that you don't believe in a deity, but when you start calling those who do rather strong insulting terms, it goes beyond a debate. You constantly flood this forums with reports of isolated events to show the evils of religion, when it quite clear they are not unique to religion.

'IF' true, I'd like to see the causality between those points and religion. I wonder how CM's research on Buddhism coming along. I know of some difference divorce number from survey to survey. It also varies between religions, as much t do with the stigma of splitting inside the particular community, ie the RC rate is a 1/3 less than Baptist. Most of the number are really close the margin of error. How many of the atheist are cohabiting and just split, when things get done, no divorce to record. Considering single digit number of atheist in the US, it wouldn't take much to skew the number. Many of the highest rates of divorce in industrialized country has a strong correlation with a strong welfare system, hmmmm.
I suspect the divorce rate is a much more complicated story than just religion.

I personally went from the one end of the spectrum (Fundamental Organized Religion) to the other (Atheism).
The former was indeed blind faith, the latter is based on empirical freethinking.
The empirical data (cosmology, problem of evil, natural disasters, stochastic events, etc) are explained far more easily by "no god" than "a god".

Which of course has little if anything with Buddhism and your claim that all religions involve deities. That point is one of the reason I appreciate many of the teachings it offers, but don't consider myself religious.
