I'm surprised nobody here is talking about the Kyrie trade.

What does anyone think about Kyrie going to Dallas next to Luka?

Think it might work out, but if they're not on the court at the same time, Kyrie needs to be the point guard and Luka has gotten used to it the past 4 years.
Not sure what Cuban was thinking here, it'll be interesting to watch it play out the next few months.

It's a great move by Dallas. Imho I think Luka is applying pressure to Cuban and Management to do something. I'm relatively certain Dallas would not do the trade if they had no intention of re-signing him the summer.

The big question is what does Joe Tasi and the Nets do next. I'm 90 percent sure KD will ask for a trade in the summer if the Nets don't win a playoff series.

I'm sure Luka was asked prior to the trade what his thoughts were.

Basketball is just a different animal than the other major sports in that regard.

Kyrie rode LBJ to a Championship in 2016, since then he's fucked up every team he's joined. They love him in Boston. He's thinks he's a superstar, a game breaker - he's dead from the neck up.

This is what he'll achieve in Dallas.

I checked out the details of this trade, Mavericks GM Nico Harrison gave up Spencer Dinwiddie and two other players to get Meathead. He's going to be out of a job in the summer.

With Dinwiddie the Nets could go to the NBA finals, he's hard working and charismatic...and almost as funny as Ja Morant.

You gotta feel bad for Joe Tsai the Nets owner, who is literally scammed at the moment by Kyrie and KD. Kyrie does't play defense, Mavs won't come out of the first round, second round tops.

Why any owner/ GM would want this absolute scum of the earth on their team is totally beyond me? A total disruptor in a bad way and totally undependable . He is just not worth it at any price including free .

The Mavericks got their rectums stretched, why would Mark Cuban agree to such a terrible trade.

Cuz he's desperate, he has arguably the best player in the league and it's a .500 team. Every team thinks they will be the ones to change the player. It will be fun to watch this train wreck.

He's usually been good for a couple months before making a mess of things.
I agree, Luka is probably the most ball-dominate player in the NBA. No way in Hell is Kyrie going to play second fiddle to Luka, so no way this could work in the long run. Kyrie will probably behave until the season ends, then he will start his "I don't want to be here" antics.

Tsai is fucked, but I don't feel bad for him at all. His front office did this to him, they thought they could do it with KD, Harden and Kyrie, like Lebron in Miami. lol
That will be the bigger question once the season is over, what will Kyrie do. He'll be a huge free agent asking for max, close to $50 million for four years? WOW!
Or maybe Dallas will work out?

My only assumption is to give Luka a break and have someone good with the ball so they keep the pressure, Cuban says it here, but it's funny how he said it.
Listen to Mark around 11 seconds in saying Luka is the best ball handler and Kyrie is #2 the comments about Kyrie requesting a trade after hearing that. 😂

Luka is more of a pass first player, he just happened to excel really fast in the NBA and that's something that they didn't expect in only 4 years.
Of course I could be wrong, we'll see, but I think it's still about giving Luka some rest time and letting Kyrie continue the pace.

Should we start a pool as to when Kyrie asks Dallas for a trade?

No Luka is more of getting his shot first, then if doesn't have one he will pass it. Luka's game requires him to have the ball in his hands, so he can make his moves to the basket or shoot his step-back jumper. Luka is a master with the ball in his hands for getting his shot, which makes him one of best scorers in the NBA.

Even if that were true, ball dominant means the offence runs almost entirely through his hands when he's on the court. Kyrie is the same kind of player, at his best when he's controlling the flow of the game. Unless Luka has the ability to take the back seat at times, I can't see this working long term. Might be interesting during this year's playoffs, if the Mavs have any defenders to cover for the two.

p.s. If KD wanted out last summer, having Cam Thomas is the 2nd best player isn't going to help.

I'm surprised no one is talking about how the raps fucked up by doing nothing. 10th place and their big move is to pick up a role player on an expiring contract. Meanwhile I wonder how much Van Vleet will milk the team for in the off season with the threat of walking for nothing. What they have isn't working and the 'stars' aren't listening to their coach any more. Should have been sellers. OG had a huge number of teams looking at him as well as Fred and Pascal and Gary (another expiring contract who wants a big payday).

Doubt they would have gotten the desired value for most of those guys but IMO better than drifting further down the standings with a group that has little opportunity to get better.
