I know people that have had cataract surgery and they walk out of the hospital fine. I don't recall ever seeing them with a patch even that same day. I'm sure you'll be ok.

Presumably you've spoken with your Ophthalmologist/surgeon about this.

Further this is not the time to act macho, let them know you are scared - you are not the first person to be afraid about surgery!
trust me i told him everything and asked him to put me out he said no and told me if i don't calm down he would not do the surgery clearly no bed side manner

I made a request via PM to have my account deleted and I wasn't considered worthy of the common courtesy of a reach around... I mean response. And this little turdbag topooner gets not a perma ban but an actual deletion.

I'd feel slightly insulted if I were not so used to being the systems bitch.

As for the topic. I fear getting my eyes done. Sure they can dope me up so I don't care but I can't put eye drops in my eye. I just can't do it without flinching. Last time the optometrist did it, it took many many tries. Unless the medication comes in paste format I can put on the inside of my eye lid, I don't know what I'd do.

BTW talk to your doc about different types of lenses. My father wasn't given that option by the incompetent piece of shit who did his first eye. He was not informed of complications either until he had his second eye done by another guy. As the first doc died in the mean time and good riddance as far as I am concerned.
i already have my next doc picked out i didn't get the choice the first time

My Mum has been through this. You're awake but you're calm and will not remember anything. You'll be fine. The sight improvement is fantastic.

Are you old enough to get catarats? Usually, the people are like 85 years old.
It's more of a question of hearing.

Had both eye's operations at different times for different reasons and totally aware while on the table. Blinders on covering over the other eye like a hood. Felt the needle go into the back of the eye socket. Still calm with that "jungle juice" provided before to relax me, ask for more freezing when sensing freezing was wearing off.

It's when you are in a Toronto teaching hospital and you hear your doctor providing instructions is at your feet you begin to wonder and trust those hands doing the operation.

An hour after operation I was playing Euchre with other patients.

I would do it again with the right doctor that I trust.

I reckon that if her fears were warranted, she's not going to be able to read our replies today.

Oh I guess not. Ok you know I am a bitch and speak my mind. Here is the blunt facts.

You pretty well will not see much of anything.

You will at worst feel mild discomfort. Pretty much nothing.

It is so close to perfectly safe it is in the risk range of taking a shower with another person and falling. Well established and simple.

Just for the record.

And the drugs you will get are actually sort of amazing.
