Make a bucket list and start doing them. My #1 was to play in the World Series Of Poker main event and will do so in June.

They say “Our fear of boredom is simply a fear of coming face to face with ourselves”

When I was in high school I took drinking and getting high to the extreme that I simply stopped to feel and became numb to the world around me and almost fully indifferent. Nothing excited me, and I didn’t care about anyone or anything. Luckily this still scared the fuck out of me that I would live the rest of my life like this. Somehow I found a way to accept myself and the life I have and start to live based on the absolute. Right now I am so passionate and emotional that I can cry watching a video and can feel someone else’s pain.

How does this get back to you and your boredom? I think try to find a way to accept YOUR life and what YOU have and who YOU are and look at ways of working out your 5 or even 6 senses. In turn they will get stronger and will stimulate back your mind body and spirit until you become in peace and become content at just being YOU. Then even smelling the coffee or seeing your friends smile will be enough to make your day.

This was the movie that most likely snapped me out of it and probably changed my life...now I know and feel what love smells like and very likely is why I started to hobby and still do :) https://youtu.be/3DsEljD1CAw

It is as the title says. I'm bored.

I go through this quite often in my life. Things getting boring really quickly. My mainstream work is multifaceted because over the years, I got bored, learned a new "thing" and then added it to my repertoire. I am now bored with work again. I still supervise and point my figure because that is what the boss does but I don't even want to do that and find I am passing off what I can where I can.

I wouldn't say escorting is boring but it is a little mundane in some ways as I am learning. I want to take new pics but can't get the creative juices flowing enough I think. Poses seem 'meh' and the same for everyone, even photographers are the same. You see the same work done for everyone.

I have other hobbies but even those are losing appeal. I would travel but nothing is "wow"ing me. I have been looking at trips, cruises, etc. Nothing is jumping out at me.

The holiday happened and I feel like I am still in lazy lala mode but I am not. Things are getting done, bills are being paid, I am out or in meeting new people. I visit with friends, go to the movies. I do stuff all the time. I am just really bored. I need something new to get excited about and sink my teeth into.

Anyone get like this? Anyone have some ideas or suggestions of things they have always wanted to learn or try. Be it a new hobby or trade or something. My brain needs a challenage.

I don't mind getting my hands dirty. I don't have a problem with failing so long as I try. I don't mind spending money on learning new things so taking course or buying equipment is not an issue for me. Traveling is not an issue for me. Time is not even an issue for me. I am an empty-nester, single. So not much to hold me back from anything. Physically, I am not in the best shape but I am not a complete write off either - LOL. I work hard for what I want so I will/would train my body along with my brain if need be.

What do you find as a health challenage in life? Maybe it can help me out of this rut I have gotten myself into.

If you are bored..then go back to school ("university") ...get a degree or master degree! Do something that challenge you mentally also. Maybe you need to discover something mentally that can safisfied you.

I highly recommend you read the great Bertrand Russell on boredom and happiness.

More than ever, people fear boredom, and it can be incredibly healthy and valuable. Constant stimulation is a path to burnout.

Surround yourself with beauty and enjoy the pause... your motivation will come back.

If you do not have any trades skills like carpentry, then I suggest taking such a course and doing some of your own basic renovations at home. It will take up some of your valuable spare time.
Another thing to think about is to join a gym that has an indoor arena like a 200 metre track. Try taking up to the basics of walking /running and building up from there. Sign up for Zumba / Salsa classes. You will get to interact with others on such courses. There are various Meetup groups in the GTA that are active even during the winter season. There are some types of hobbies that may interest you with these groups.
Do you do your own taxes? You can get involved with Accountancy courses that help in that respect. Just do not sit around and get bored, as it will not be good for your mental health and accelerates the signs of dementia.
Research has shown that golfers are normally in the best shape and health, especially during their retirement years. Now these apply to golfers that walk the course and not the ones just sitting in the carts and driving around the course. I would like to try this game once I retire, but I find it to be a boring game and only take part in tournaments where the suppliers take care of all your costs on the course. All my buddies who have taken up to golf say that it is an addiction to them.

Get yourself a fat bike to rip up the trails in the winter, regular mountain bike and a gravel-road bike to ride in the summer and you will never get board. Go to Cycle Solutions on Kingston rd. And they will set you up. Another good hobby is cross country skiing. Almost impossible to get a serious injury and awesome full body workout. For cross country skiis you can go to Skis and Bikes on Don Mills. Good place to start skiing is Hardwood Hills. They have about 80km of groomed xs trails for classic and skating styles in the winter.

I usually suggest some fitness and or learning. The former develops the body and the latter the mind. Once you see some improvement or progression you’ll get hooked.
So running or biking or some sports is a good activity. For the mind, take a course, learning cooking or even write a blog; you’ll find you need to get your thoughts in order before putting it down.

From what I see, looks like you’re a good writer, so maybe the blog will turn into a book. Good luck

Find something meaningful that isn’t about you. The suggestion about a children’s hospital is In the vain of what I’m thinking.

Not being entertained fully is a fist world problem, go help someone and that will bring you more substantial happiness.

I'm never bored.

I can surf the internet all day. So many great pieces of info to learn about. Put on some background music from free radio streaming sites, read up on things and hours pass like it's nothing.

I especially like reading wiki articles about historic wars. And every article will have links to other pages of info or other battles in the war or who this King or General was. So it's a big chain of interesting reading of who, where, strategy, tactics, weapons at the time etc....

No need for books or a library when you got the net to read.

Perhaps an elucidation of the following might help you clarify things in your own mind:

"I am now bored with work again. I still supervise and point my figure because that is what the boss does but I don't even want to do that and find I am passing off what I can where I can."

The above job issue notwithstanding I am tempted to ask: Are you getting yours? Satiety surmounts ennui every time.

1. Try iFly in Oakville at Winston Churchill especially if you’re scared of heights. Also Skywalk on CN Tower.
2. Work for your Pilot’s license, especially if you’re afraid of flying.
3. Take cooking lessons if you like chemistry.
4. Tutor a kid through one of the boys and girls programs.
5. Attend an ayahuasca retreat.

I don't mind the frigid cold, I rather enjoy it. It's the threat of freezing rain that brings out the SAD in me. When that happens I remember a happy time in my life, like the Summer of 86.
