So imagine you are like Star Trek's William Riker and can have sex with any lady of any desired appearance anytime. And the sex feels like the real thing too. Would you stop dating women altogether? Stop seeing SPs too? This technology is not too far away in the future. And for those who say that sex is not the only thing you want from women, well, you can have your enjoyable conversations, fine dining, etc... with the women in the holodeck too (whatever you want happens in there).

The show only dealt with this once. 1 of the crew used to hold a deck for his fantasys I did not socialize with women in resl life.
Let's say the HD is like you cell phone, cost, low electric bill and very real.
Yes the world would suck, you never leave your HD room. But it will cost money and you have to go to work.

I think it would essentially replace the role that porn plays. Realizing sexual fantasies outside of real interactions. Id probqbly still want to have a partner, bevause beyond the sexual and intimate emtional support you give each other there is; financial motivation (dual incomes), having a family (not a hologram one, one that would continue your bloodline), and being able to go to social functions together.

Although not identical, this same sort of thing might not be too far away with neurolink. If a computer can stimulate your brain to make you see certain things, feel certain things and experience certain things, and they figure out how to do it safely and reliably and cheaply....that's going to be a potent addiction. It'll be like dreaming, except you control what you see and experience, and it's far more powerful. And while many people will say now that there's no way they'd adopt that, my guess is it'll be difficult to resist. You can create your ideal life -- wife, kids, career, fame, adventure -- and make it feel like the real thing while you're in there, without any of the limitations, or risk, of real life.

For me it would be an addition, not a replacement. Real women have their flaws but are irreplaceable as well. With SP's you try to select like the holodeck but you will get reality check on arrival many times
But the hit-and-miss with SP's also adds to the experience. And once you get a hit, repeating a couple of times can get relatively close to your fantasies. However, the holodeck would definitely make it much easier to find that elusive natural blonde bush ;-)
