If you don't have to worry about money, Montreal is a great city (and housing is cheaper than in the Toronto area), but average salaries in many lines of work are considerably less than in Toronto.
very true about the economic situation and lower salary to go along with wacky taxes, but I am a high school teacher so the economic boom or bust has little effect on me. I am more of a lifestyle quality than a high income bracket guy :)

I personally like Hong Kong. And I will eventually retire there.....IF.....they get rid of the pollution. Plus Hong Kong's airline, Cathay Pacific, and airport, Chep Lap Kok, is what I would need too. Otherwise, I think I'll do the Iron Quadrilateral. Bangkok, Thailand - Hong Kong/Macau - Japan (anywhere) and Honolulu (or anywhere in Hawaii). Fly to the mainland for the dentist, scrotum check is in Bangkok, already.
