Something that may be overlooked in the article is the differing attitude towards the use of DNA typing (particularly as relates to police searches) in the U.K. as opposed to Canada and the U.S. How did they happen to have the DNA of the twins to compare with the grey trousers - an DNA data bank perchance (since they apparently knew so little about their "suspect")?

Then they find out that there is an indentical twin brother so they arrest him as well - perhaps probable cause has been abolished in England?

This I suspect would be a rather different story in Canada or the U.S.
