That's the way to do it . By the way I'm not a trucker so why do you have to mark down the fuel stop and where you bought ?
they just want to know every second of ever day where you are and what you are doing. when you stop for fuel, drinks, bathroom. every second of every day has to be accounted for properly.

it's kinda like if you work in an office and every time you step away form your desk you have to mark down why you did, when you did and how long you were gone for and if you forget he gives you a fine.

You have a choice to give your BOSS the 'basic package'? Would you earn less for that?
no, that means that i will never again go over and above to help him out. he is trying to tell me i have to pay his fine as well as mine now. if he tries that there will be lawyers and labor board involved.

i had been doing it the same way for 2 years already. the safety guy should have pulled me aside and let me know to change the way i was doing things. that is a big fleet, hope it goes smooth for ya.
20 or so years ago, the company safety man pulled my uncle, who hadn't filled out a log book for ages, aside. Had him sit in the lunchroom and complete all the missing logs. Took him 2 weeks of 8 hour days, just filling out logbooks.

god that sucks but 20 years ago log books and safety regulations weren't as strict. i agree with some of the rules now. like the 11 hours of driving in the u.s, i kinda think canada should go down to that. i'm tired after 11 hours and after 13 i am twitchy. forgetting to put a little mark where you got fuel is just a silly thing to me. the receipt says i got fuel, why does it matter what time of day i got it.

It's a silly little thing to most of us, but something has to keep the paper pushers occupied.

We had one of our guys have his personal friend mechanic take the company truck (a dually pick up licensed with a RGVW of > 4,500 kg I believe) out for a spin after performing some maintenance on it. The mechanic didn't have or know where the log book was and got a ticket including the company. He flipped at the MTO officer who might have not given a ticket if he was nice to him. It's crazy but they have all the power.

i was talking to the guy after and he was telling me some of the stuff people have done. yelling and screaming and insulting the guy with the power is not going to get you a lesser fine.

"you know what my mother is a whore, i will just give you a warning this time" said no officer ever.
