I saw a dead body today, near Sherbourne and Shuter. It was a white male, probably 25-30 years old. It might have been an OD, or possibly he hit his head after climbing a fence to sift through garbage; he was in a locked enclosure where they keep dumpsters beside 200 Sherbourne.

I told the guy who sells loose cigarettes near Jarvis and Shuter, and he said "Right on".

Sounds like a regular ass day in Toronto to be honest. I remember when a torso was found in the alley behind the Wrong Bar in Parkdale way back when I was still dumb enough to think living in Toronto was a good idea

The Job was a very funny sitcom from 2001-02, starring Denis Leary as an NYPD detective. In the third episode of season 2, ("Telescope"), a dead body is found on the border between two precincts, and cops keep moving it so that the investigation will be someone else' job.

You can obtain the full series of The Job here:

These are high quality DVD rips, (Xvid .avi), mage by the 'LOKI' scene group. They are, however, download only, because for some reason the site did not generate .mp4 versions for online viewing.

EDIT
Same trick was done in one episode of The Wire...

Back in uni, I was walking up the outside steps of the Robarts Library (Fort Book) and came across an elderly man slumped over.
I notified security, and he said, "He's dead, the police have been called, don't touch the body."
I thought it was just some hobo, but the next day, I read in the papers that he was the head of the Canadian Opera Company.

Update:

I walked past the body location two hours later, and the cops were gone, and there was no yellow crime scene tape. Most likely the guy died after climbing the fence around the dumpster area. We appear to have a Darwin Award winner.

I had an ederly Chinese gentleman die in the slot chair next to me. About 11 a.m. just slumped in his chair and died. No noise, nothing!

The last episode of The Job aired before the first episode of The Wire.
Back inthe early 90s some Aussie coppers told me how they gently pushed a DB of a homeless alcoholic (they thought they recognized him) that washed up onto the shore back into the water then rang the water police to make it their problem. I asked why, they said they wanted to go to lunch.

I drove by that area one day and two guys were fighting. One of the guys had no pants on. They fell off or something.

Could have been worse.

I was hurt in a traffic accident, many moons ago, had to be taken to emergency (thought my leg was broken, turned out to be just badly bruised). ER nurse instructed me to go change into gown in a certain room, as the regular rooms were occupied. I enter room and see a dead woman's body covered on a table, face was covered , her long hair was falling over sides of table. I was surprised , but it didn't freak me out. Another nurse apologized to me for what the other nurse did.

People die on planes more often than they want you to know. There is even a procedure if a person dies during a flight. The flight attendant puts sun glasses on the DB, a drink in hand and a newspaper or magazine on their lap.

The guy in the dumpster enclosure could have hit his head when climbing in to look for treasure, or he may have been hit before his arrival. Robert Mitchum was found in a pool of blood in his home when he died. The doors were locked and there was no evidence to point the finger at any suspects. After a long investigation they just gave up and said he got drunk and hit his head and died. He was a famous drinker.

William Holden also, in a drunken stupor, slipped on a rug hit head on night stand , lost consciousness , found 4 days later.

It would have been difficult for one or more people to throw the body over the fence, and have it be in the posture I saw. If the police thought there was some possibility of foul play, most likely they would have stayed at the scene for more than two hours.

Then again, violence between homeless people of the same race isn't a high priority investigation in Toronto.

Once I saw a guy passed out or dead in the alley east of Yonge Street between Shuter and Dundas. A cop car was parked near Dundas Square. I tapped on the window, and when the cop opened it a crack, I told him about the guy, and he just continued drinking his coffee and reading his Toronto Sun.
