Quite the bummer in having to replace everything.

I was lucky a when I almost lost my wallet, as it fell out of my back pocket and I didn't know it as I was walking on street. A young lady who saw it happened, picked it up and gave it back to me immediately.

After I use an ATM, pay for something at a store, I always check that my CC card, debit card, DL and Health card is in the wallet before I put it back into my pocket.

I remember losing my wallet in Belize. We were driving around in a golf cart (main mode of transportion on the island) and it fell out. We were driving to the south end of the island to a really great jerk chicken food cart. Went to pay, yikes, no wallet. Hopped into the cart and drove back towards town. Asked golf carts we met if they had seen a wallet on the ground, no luck. Finally saw it on the road, everything intact. Went back and had a great meal and story to tell.

If you lose your wallet in a restaurant in Tokyo Japan they'll hold it for you at the counter, and next day you can come and pick it up with everything inside still left in it

One time I was a bigger retard then you. I had gone mountain biking as I was putting my bike up on the rack I left my wallet on the bumper and drove away. Luckily it was a cheap wallet and I only had id in it. Someone mailed it back to me after I replaced everything lol. What happened to you sucks. Nothing else to do but bang your head off the wall and get new I. D.

That sucks. I dropped my wallet years ago getting out out of my car to visit a MP. I always keep cash in my pocket so I didn't notice it missing until I got home. I got a call the next day from a couple who said they found my wallet. They gave me their address and told me come over after 7:00 PM. When I got there they were having a party and invited me in for a couple drinks and food. I stayed and chatted for an hour and a half. Super nice people.

I've returned a couple purses, wallets, bank cards and several cell phones over the years. Karma's working in my favour.

Tip: Lay out everything in your wallet on a table and take a photo, or photocopy them. That way if you lose your wallet, you can easily identify what you've lost.

I always look to return a wallet or ID. I have gone as far as contacting insurance companies or banks to get the persons contact.

Well not there actual contact. I get the company to call the person and pass my info to them.

I left my wallet in a store once during Christmas shopping one year when my kids were really little and my income was even less. It had the last of my shopping money. A couple found it and called me. I cried on the phone with appreciation. Explained just how important it was that not only was the wallet returned but the money as well. When I went to pick up the wallet, there was a gift basket for each kid with it. I was shocked. Being so young, I just never thought people could be that nice. It forever changed my outlook on things and ever since I have paid it forward anyway I can.

I would do anything I could to get a person their belongings back.

I am very sorry this happened to you. Once you get your ID and adjust to a new wallet, the feelings should subside but it will still hit you every once in a while. It is a voilation and that is hard to deal with.

Found a wallet with a friend outside a racetrack & hit the jackpot! There was almost 2G's in it & for two 12yr olds it was like winning the lottery. Went to a nice restaurant ate like kings, bought some new shoes, hit the candy store, walked home & split the money. Both of us got together later that nite & come to the conclusion we were stealing from someone & broke the news to my dad. Although he was disappointed we spent some of the money he was proud we came forward before it was all gone. Dad made up the difference, took the shoes we bought & called the guy. Guy was ecstatic that someone found his wallet & drove from like 70miles away to get it. He was so happy that he gave my friend & I each a $100...which in turn most of went back to my dad. Lesson learned if someone didn't give it to you it's not yours to spend

Two Part Story....

Part1
While out jogging one day (maybe 2013) in Bloor West Village my Ex and I found a massive female wallet on the road....totally stuffed...it was the day after halloween and evidently the mother dropped it while out with little tricker treaters. Wife opened up the wallet, found a drivers licence and we drove it down right then and there to the owners house, which was just a few clicks south of our location...must have shocked her as she really was not exuberant about getting it back...maybe it was still a shock that she lost it. But handed it over and went home to amazing positive karma sex (ok...i cant recall this part).

NOW my story....late 90's coming back from Miami for a business feebee trip...before I board the AC plane back to YYZ...I hit a washroom...and I recall it was empty so most likely pretty far from the gate. I change into long pants and walk to the plane that boarding...get my seat and stow my backpack. About 4 mins later a stewart is walking down the aisle calling my last name....WTH...."Yes, thats me"...."Sir, you forgot your wallet in a washroom.....here you go"....and that was it....nothing more.

Some KIND person in Miami found my WALLET on the sink counter....SOMEHOW looked me up thru the airport system.....found the FLIGHT I was on....BROUGHT to GATE...and I was LUCKIEST person in the world RIGHT THEN AND THERE.

NOTHING MISSING....

Sorry, not to take away for the OPs post....but I've been paying back that kindness each and every day that I can thru karma any way I can!!!

Photo copy all your ID just in case you loose your wallet. That way you know exactly which cards to cancel. I only carry one CC with me. License, registration and insurance papers. Carry in button chest pocket only.

BTW - Did you know there is a duty ID wallet you can carry to get special privileges. ( special consideration on traffic tickets )

Bad luck. Today I left my Visa at the gas station, called an hour later and the clerk told me- it's in my safe, come by at your convenience. Nice guy. BTW, I don't do wallets. I carry my driver license in the jacket of my phone(it never leaves my hand or pocket), cash and a single Visa in a money clip in the front left pocket. Of course I'm not a woman.

I'm surprised how many people leave their phones, wallets and laptops logged in without the lock screen on the table in Starbucks or other cafe type places to go to the washroom. It takes seconds for a thief to grab your stuff.

I have found three wallets in my lifetime. In each case I was able to track down the owners fairly quickly (once via his credit card company).

A couple of years ago I lost my wallet while at work. My laptop bag, slung over my shoulder, had knocked my wallet out of my back pocket. I guess the karma points accumulated from the other finds paid off - it was found and I was phoned by the person who discovered it less than 20 minutes after it had been lost.

The only thing I ever check a wallet / purse for is identification, and I always do it with someone else present.

Oh, and I did find a digital camera memory card once. No identification, obviously, but it had some pictures of their pickup truck, complete with licence plate, so I took it to the local constabulary, figuring they'd easily be able to track down the owner.

Good luck. Hope everything works out alright.

P.S. Hope you checked trash bins in the immediate vicinity. More often than not, thieves will grab the cash and credit cards and ditch the rest of the wallet, either just on the ground or in a trash bin.

I had an appointment downtown yesterday I arrived early so I hung out in the Subway Sandwiches to kill some time. Just before I left I went to the washroom to brush my hair cause it was pouring rain previously and I guess I took my wallet out of my purse and put it on the sink to grab my brush. I went to my appointment which took about 40 minutes and when I was leaving I said; "where the hell is my wallet?" I booted back to Subway. No trace of my wallet, the clerk was a young girl she had no idea what I was even saying. Couldn't even tell me how many people used the bathroom since I was there. I was freaking out and ready to puke on the curb. If you drove by you would've thought I was a downtown psycho lol.

In total I lost a YSL wallet *expensive :(. All id's. All credit cards. Large amount of cash. All business cards and other little meaningful things in my wallet.

I have never done something this irresponsible before so I'm using this as a way to vent. I beat myself up all night for being such an idiot lol.

Anyways, what would you do if you saw my wallet? I would maybe take the cash (even so I'm not hurting) but I would definitely return the wallet and contents to the clerk. Are there any decent people left out there? Someone is living it up right now smh.

To top it off VISA told me my card was swiped for gas at Petro Canada as if they didn't have a wad of cash lol.

Have you ever lost your wallet? How long did it take for you to feel back on track? I'm pretty much devastated
I felt bad for you until i read that part...

BTW lost my wallet once, guy found it and gave it back to me. Everything still there, including cash, probably close to 500$. tried to give him some cash, wouldn't even take it.
Most people are scum, i ran into a rare person that day.

UGH OMG ! :( That happened to me once except on a go bus.. Actually twice. to be honest. The first time I had probably 150$ and some credit cards in my wallet and I was reading and forget that I put my wallet beside me ; I got off at square one and it wasn't until I got off the bus and halfway to where I was going before I realized I didn't have my wallet. I totally started freaking out and called all my banks to cancel my cards.... Then I got a phone call from my mom telling me that the go bus driver returned my wallet to my house because my id was in it :) I am forever grateful to that bus driver.. The second time I got my wallet back but all my cash was gone. Worse feeling ever... I beat myself up for about a week and a half for being so stupid. Ever since then I have never ever not double checked my purse when leaving my house-, a car , etc. I hope they find whoever has your credit cards and I hope it wasn't to much $$...

If I found a bag of cash, with no identifying marks, I'd probably keep it. But someone's wallet? I'd return it, along with any cash inside.

Found a wallet in a Walmart parking lot about ten years back. Took it to customer service inside. While I was there a desperate guy came running into the store, saw his wallet on the counter...and you could see his relief. I sure as shit am not going to be responsible for someone's shitty day by taking his wallet. The guy thanked me profusely, even offered to buy me a drink.

About 95% of people would take cash in a wallet they found and then return it to either the owner or wherever they found it - about 5% would return everything. I myself wouldn't because it has happened to me and I know the feeling. I truly hope perfection gets her wallet back or that they at least find the person who took it.

I'm gonna hope I'm taking your meaning wrong. lol
